Seller's Notes

1986 Chevrolet C20 Custom Deluxe Long Bed Pickup An all new clean sheet redesign of General Motors' Chevrolet and GMC brand C/K Series pickups debuted in mid 1972 for the 1973 model year. Development of the new third generation trucks began in 1968 with vehicle components undergoing simulated testing on computers before the first prototype pickups were even built for real world testing. The redesign was revolutionary in appearance at the time, particularly the cab, departing from typical American pickup truck designs of the era. Aside from being near twins, the Chevrolet and GMC pickups looked like nothing else on the road. The third generation trucks are colloquially known as the Square body generation. Carsandracingstuff.com For consignment, a 1986 Chevrolet C20 Custom Deluxe long bed pickup truck with a title verified 99,341 actual miles. The U.S. Forestry Service maintains a fleet of about 20,000 vehicles with nearly half of them being light trucks.  ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.***     Exterior This possible government retiree still wears its official uniform of single stage Forest Service Green paint with all the patina you'd expect to see on an outdoor work truck. The paint shows weathered chips, surface rust, mismatched paint, and a few small dents. It's the kind of patina people try to recreate, but this is the real deal which you can leave as is, or redo the fairly straight body with the color of your choice. Basic Chevrolet hubcaps are framed by the 16-inch white steel wheels wrapped in LT rated truck tires from 25 years ago. The bed has a nice liner in it while the inside tailgate shows definite usage. The grille shows age but is intact over a nice chrome bumper and in back, a diamond steel heavy duty bumper with trailer hitch and electrical port. The stub of a CB antenna is on the cab which is flanked by wide white mirrors with a nicely contrasting patina.  Interior Saddle tan plastic door cards set the perfect forest vehicle color and show some age through discoloration while the vinyl bench seat is held together with black tape and a prayer. It's rough and dirty but fortunately, there are dozens of aftermarket or junkyard options. The no frills front includes a basic plastic steering wheel fronting a simple instrument cluster with a speedometer and gas gauge while vent levers and an AM/FM radio to the right offer some creature comforts. Our brown dash pad has spent some time in the sun and the rubberized floor covering is standard issue around the tall shifter. Just paint on the ceiling along with brown visors and a solid rear window.  Drivetrain Patina laden driver quality conditions appear under the hood where we find a 350ci V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor mated to a 4-speed manual with first gear creeper gear. Power is routed to the 14 bolt locking rear axle with 4.10 gears.  Undercarriage Exactly what you might expect, plenty of surface rust and oxidation underneath, a bit of grime but otherwise solid as a rock. The dual exhaust carries stock style muffles and exits behind the rear wheels. There are no catalytic converters on board. The power brakes are configured as front disc and rear drum and suspension is basic with coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back.   Drive-Ability We start the 350 up and note a check engine light, but the truck otherwise runs fine and we slowly roll it through the test loop, careful as we go on some old tires. We note the radio and horn are not working, but all other functions on this basic build operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  Most of us want to take it easy in retiremen
