Gateway Classic Cars Tampa Showroom is FIRED UP to digitally present this screaming 1975 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. In the mid 70's the Z28 was dead. The Corvette was a pathetic 165hp slug, and the Mustang...well never mind. However, the Trans Am was the defiant General Motors step child refusing to sit down and be quiet. The consigner of this gorgeous bird is in his 80s now but purchased the car in 1976 and never let it go. When we asked how his wife reacted when he pulled in the driveway after purchasing the then like new car he stated, She was not happy. Quite the car guy, the owner recently decided to make the Trans Am better, much better. In 2017 the car was beautifully resprayed in its original Buccaneer Red. (75L75U). Don't be fooled, she looks stock and if you're thinking this is simply a meager 200hp poncho from the 70s, you'd be sadly mistaken. Under the hood rests a Butler big block cranking out an estimated 500hp. Real Pontiac people know Butler. Enough said. Keeping the torque monster civil on the streets is a Tremec 5-speed transmission and you won't find the paltry ten bolt GM rear diff underneath but a 9 Ford assembly with 3.90 gears. But wait there's more. Doug's ceramic headers, QA1 coil overs, Wilwood brakes, tubular upper and lower control arms, aluminum radiator, electric fans, serpentine pulley system and a killer sound system....we are running out of space here. Gear heads know that 2nd Gen Firebirds are on everyone's list and we dare you to find another that is basically a one owner, garage kept car. You can see this one on the showroom floor of our Tampa location.
