5,068 miles
1958 Chevrolet 3100 Series Apache Cameo Pickup With dual headlights and a distinct, bold bumper and grille, the Apache adorned a commanding presence on the road. Chevrolet was carefully catering to the market demand for trucks and the diverse audience that would be using them. The first iteration was a stepside which appealed to the tradesmen and farm population, but soon after the Fleetside was created to address the stylistic leanings of a growing suburban population. For consignment, a 1958 Chevrolet 3100 Series Apache Cameo pickup showing 5,068 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a title exemption. This truck's frame off restoration was completed in 2012 and represents one of 1,405 series 3100 trucks with the Cameo package in 1958, considered the luxury edition of the Task Force series.  Exterior Fantastic Bombay White two stage paint dominates the truck which is adorned with bright metalwork, chrome bumpers and the telltale fender spears which tell the world what they're looking at. Contrasting Cardinal Red paint on the roof, C-pillars, and bed band trim exemplify 50's styling at its best and on that band, the coveted Cameo call out in script is displayed. With forward leaning pillars and curved glass, the cab has a distinctive cant and that rear window overlooks a beautiful oak bed with red painted sidewalls. The truck sits on 15-inch wheels with artful wheel covers and white wall tires, ornate enough to keep up with the epic front grille bumper and dual headlights. Small noted marks include some imperfect paint and surface where the fender meets the cowl and along the edge, other touched up chips, uneven surfaces, evidence of filler, underpaint on a door bottom, and cracking paint.   Interior The inside of the doors carry over the body color with a panel of tuck and roll red vinyl over a white base with cleanliness matched by the red and white bench seat and adherent red seat belts. A red steering wheel frames the V-shaped speedometer that arches the numbers under a series of standard sweeping needle gauges and it's all show quality. The oval gauges are called out by the oval window of the AM radio embedded in the dash above Vintage A/C vents and the dash topper looks like glossy red lipstick. A red headliner panel hovers over the cab where red carpet floods the flat floor with precision. Drivetrain The show must go on and it does, under the hood! Here's where we find a spotless 283ci V8 with a Holley 2-barrel carburetor and it's mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear axle and 3.54 gears. The truck has power steering, power brakes, air conditioning and runs on a 12 volt system and was converted to a PerTronix electronic ignition.  Undercarriage Will this American rarity deliver a grand slam? Yes! The underside is just as clean as the top side replete with clear surfaces and no rust of any kind. Here we have dual exhaust running through Xlerator mufflers and exiting somewhat discreetly through chrome tips out back. Power drum brakes are at all four wheels and leaf springs are employed front and rear. Drive-Ability Another ball hit out of the park as the Cameo delivers a trouble free lap around the loop providing good power, great visibility, a nice exhaust note, and braking that's on point. The radio is not working but all other functions operate as they should and it's time for this truck to make its cameo appearance inside the mall! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Put a dollar in an envelope every time someone tells you, nice truck and you'll likely recoup your investment in short order. This is a desirable edition of the common 3100 series, unique, elegant, and absolutely show ready. Not only is it a rare model, but this truck was a factory V8 truck and will come to you with recei
