Chevelles - all of them, especially the first and second generation have been considered "money in the bank" for any collector.
Regardless of if driven or just parked and look at them, they will make you smile.
They come in all kinds of conditions (we know first-hand), from all kinds of folks.
This particular vehicle has been cared for like royalty.
First the providence. There is the original window sticker, The original factory build sheet that was found under the rear seat, Complete timeline history (very colorful) through present. Engine component information, part number and casting dates,
Pictures of vehicle before total frame-off restoration. Pictures of restoration process.
Finally, a complete storyboard of all of this.
That alone ought to make the hair on your arms stand up.
Car is near perfect.
Now about the car.....
1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS5 (rarer than an LS6- less made),
The way it was built in 1970/71 is the way we would have built today for sure!
Big block-M-22-4 speed-air-conditioning-power steering-Posi-traction-SS trim-bucket seats-tinted glass-cowl induction-stereo-power disc brakes-15' sports wheels and more!
This vehicle had a base price of about three thousand dollars and about the same in options-crazy!
Take a moment to think about that if you have ever built a car or truck with a manufacturer or online....
Interestingly most airconditioned sports cars were automatic transmissions- thank goodness - someone had the wherewithal to build a stick!
Complete restoration was started in 2018 and took over two years to complete.
The original block was machined and left as a long block and kept on a stand. A complete restored period correct engine sourced and installed.
Owner had his fun for six years (restoration and play) and moved on a 57 Belair convertible.
The historian that put all of this information procured this vehicle in 2025 and through exhausting resources built this file.
He and his lovely wife fell in love with a 1970 Shelby GT500 and now starts the historian's next project.
