In this market of high fuel prices and high car prices, vehicles under 5k that don't need major powertrain work are almost non existent. Car sat for the past year because the 2nd and previous owner installed an aftermarket catalytic converter which tripped the check engine light. He living in an emissions required county decided to park it & buy another car which is why it sat in his garage for an etended period of time.
