The Corvette Z06 name traces back to 1963 when it was introduced as a factory built race car, and every generation since has carried that purpose forward. The C7 Z06 took it further than any version before it. Chevrolet developed this car alongside the C7.R Le Mans race car, and the two share chassis technology, aerodynamic strategy, and engineering DNA. The result is a car that looks like a Corvette, starts like a Corvette, and then reminds you immediately that it is something else entirely. This one is finished in Watkins Glen Grey Metallic with a black convertible top and a jet black leather interior, and it shows just under 15,000 original miles with the original window sticker still on hand.
Under the hood is the 6.2 liter supercharged LT4 V8 producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, backed by an eight speed paddle shift automatic. When the LT4 debuted in the Z06, it was the most powerful production engine General Motors had ever built. It hits 60 miles per hour in under three seconds, which puts it in direct company with the Lamborghini Huracan and the Nissan GT-R NISMO, at a price that makes both of those look difficult to justify. The supercharger whine under full throttle is a detail that photographs cannot capture and words do not fully describe. Magnetic ride control reads the road 1,000 times per second and adjusts the dampers in real time, slotted brake rotors add stopping performance to match the power, and a GM Performance breather kit rounds out a drivetrain that is sorted and ready.
Inside, the 2LZ preferred equipment group brings the features worth having. Heated and cooled seats, dual climate control, and the performance data and video recorder, which mounts a camera inside the windshield header and logs speed, braking force, steering angle, and GPS data simultaneously, so you have a complete record of every drive. It is the kind of feature that makes a car like this even more fun to own and gives it a layer of documentation that buyers appreciate.
The C7 Z06 was the first convertible Z06 offered since the 1960s, which makes this particular configuration historically significant within the Corvette lineup. A convertible Z06 in a subdued, sophisticated color with low miles and the right equipment is exactly the kind of specification that serious Corvette collectors are actively looking for as the C7 generation matures into collectible territory.
