1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R The 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R stands as one of the most legendary and purpose-built Mustangs of the modern muscle car era, and this particular example represents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire what is essentially a time-capsule piece of Ford SVT history. Showing just 19 original miles from new, this Crystal White Clearcoat Cobra R is documented as #225 of only 250 examples produced for the 1995 model year and is among the finest surviving examples in existence. Purchased new by a racing team in 1995, the car was reportedly disassembled shortly after delivery and carefully stored inside a trailer for approximately 30 years, preserving the vehicle in an astonishingly original and untouched state rarely seen in today's collector market. Developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Team as a track-focused homologation special, the 1995 Cobra R was engineered with one mission in mind-maximum performance. Unlike the standard Mustang Cobra, the Cobra R was stripped of unnecessary luxuries and enhanced with race-inspired hardware directly from the factory, making it one of the most serious performance Mustangs Ford had ever produced at the time. Power comes from the legendary 5.8-liter Windsor V8 shared with the F-150 Lightning, though extensively upgraded for Cobra R duty with higher-compression pistons, a more aggressive camshaft profile, GT40 induction components, and a larger throttle body. Factory output was rated at an impressive 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, figures that made the Cobra R one of the most potent American performance cars of the mid-1990s. Further distinguishing the Cobra R from standard Mustangs were numerous competition-inspired upgrades including an aluminum radiator, engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, high-capacity fuel pump, and factory fuel cell. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec TR-3550 five-speed manual transmission paired with a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential, while a Borla cat-back exhaust system adds an aggressive exhaust note befitting the Cobra R's motorsport pedigree. Visually, the Cobra R featured a far more aggressive appearance than the standard Cobra coupe. All 250 examples were finished exclusively in Crystal White Clearcoat and equipped with a unique front fascia lacking fog lights, along with a functional raised fiberglass cowl hood designed to clear the taller intake plenum. Additional exterior equipment includes a fixed rear spoiler, power-adjustable side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. The car rides on factory 17-inch five-spoke Cobra R wheels wrapped in 255/45 Toyo Extensa tires, while braking performance is handled by Cobra-branded front calipers with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Handling was a major focus of the Cobra R program, and Ford SVT equipped these cars with a host of suspension enhancements over the standard Cobra. Adjustable Koni shocks, progressive-rate springs, a front strut-tower brace, and a larger front sway bar combined to create one of the sharpest-handling Mustangs of its era and a platform capable of serious track performance directly off the showroom floor. Inside, the purposeful nature of the Cobra R becomes immediately apparent. The cabin features Saddle cloth bucket seats with matching interior trim throughout, while rear seats were deleted entirely in the interest of weight savings. Additional lightweight measures included the omission of air conditioning, an audio system, and sound insulation, emphasizing the Cobra R's uncompromising focus on performance. The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,800-rpm redline alongside auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer currently displays just 17 original miles, reinforcing the remarkable preservation of this ultra-low-mileage example.
