IPL stands for Infiniti Performance Line. It was Infiniti's in-house luxury-performance division, serving as a factory-tuned upgrade to standard models to compete with rival lines like BMW's M division or Mercedes-Benz's AMG.
The IPL moniker was used for only a few production years in the early 2010s and was applied almost exclusively to the G37 Coupe and Convertible.
The IPL treatment included several upgrades over standard and "Sport" Infiniti models:
Engine Tuning: The 3.7-liter V6 received ECU and exhaust tweaks, boosting output from the standard 330 hp up to 348 horsepower.
Performance Exhaust: A specialized, high-flow exhaust system was added for a more aggressive, raspy exhaust note.
Handling & Suspension: Upgraded, sport-tuned suspensions featured stiffer spring rates and unique shock damping.
Aesthetics: Aggressive, sporty front and rear fascias, exclusive 19-inch wheels, and a unique interior with sport-bolstered seats
