This 1939 Lincoln Model K 413-B Convertible Sedan by LeBaron is a well-documented, exceptionally rare CCCA Full Classic that is absolutely stunning having benefitted from a comprehensive frame-off restoration. 1939 was, to some extent, a transitional year for the Ford Motor Company including its most prestigious marque, Lincoln. Under Edsel Ford's leadership, Lincoln began transitioning its design ideology to a more contemporary motif best seen in its entry-level Zephyr models built without running boards first seen in the late 30s. Simultaneously, many of Lincoln's American luxury contemporaries, such as Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg, Marmon, Peerless, Stutz, and Pierce-Arrow, fell to their ultimate demises due to meager market demand in the high-end segment that they once dominated. For the surviving marques occupying the premier luxury space, including Cadillac, Packard, and Chrysler, they shifted their production efforts into more affordable and less ostentatious models like Cadillac's LaSalle line, Packard's Six and 120 lines, and Chrysler's Royal 6, allowing these automakers to survive the Depression. With the debut of Mercury and Lincoln's Zephyr a few years earlier, Ford sought to compete by bridging the gap between the everyman's Ford and the prestigious Lincoln models. Nonetheless, Lincoln continued to produce its Model K semi-custom bodied chauffeured vehicles despite production slowing to a mere trickle. In fact, total Model K production in 1939 comprised of a total of 133 units, less than 4% of the total production of these models in the debut year of 1931. Likely due to the limited production numbers of the Model K in 1939, they were left largely unchanged from the previous year's design with the exception of a sturdier wheel and an upgraded carburetor. Of the 35 custom-bodied 1939 Model K automobiles produced, 11 were built by famed coachbuilder LeBaron and were comprised of the Series 410 Convertible Roadster, the Series 413-A Convertible Sedan, and the most prestigious Series 413-B Convertible Sedan Partition. The Series 413-B was distinguished from the standard 413-A by its 3-piece crank-operated divider window that allowed rear-seated passengers to section off the their cabin from the chauffeur up front for additional privacy. Notably, the 3-piece divider window design was necessitated due to a change in the front seat design that was curved at the edges and thus allowed for the divider window to lower into the back of the front seat. In total, only 9 Series 413 models were produced of which it is believed that only 3 were produced in the 413-B configuration which makes this particular LeBaron-bodied Model K an extraordinarily rare and desirable piece of automotive history. For this reason, the Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) has deemed the 1939 Lincoln Model K a Full Classic thus qualifying its participation in all CCCA events and CARavans should you wish to participate. This particular 413-B Model K comes to us with extensive documentation including a copy of its original build sheet denoting it's use for the 1939 New York Auto Show, comprehensive restoration documentation, and 60+ year ownership history. Powering this '39 LeBaron-bodied Lincoln is a 414 cubic inch L-Head V-12 fed by a single 2 barrel carburetor that was rated at 150 horsepower when new. The Lincoln V-12 is mated to a 3 speed manual transmission that is shifted via a floor-mounted shifter. Exhaust exits this 1939 Model K via a single exhaust system that produces a muted rumble out of the rear-exiting tailpipe. For a pre-war classic car, this Lincoln Convertible is well-appointed with options. The front and rear chrome bumpers are both equipped with a pair of chrome bumper guards that elevate the exterior look of the car. Riding on a set of wide whitewall tires mounted on painted Artillery wheels and accented with Lincoln chrome center caps, this 1939 Lincoln Model K has a truly upscale look whether you're parked at the loca
