Seller's Notes

1995 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 XR-II The first generation Pajero entered production for the 1983 model year, originally in three door guise. The five door version joined it shortly thereafter and quickly became the volume model of Montero in North America. Considerably reworked, almost everything was new for '91. Larger and available with more power under hood, the Pajero proved very popular and branched out in its production. Thetruthaboutcars.com  For consignment, a 1995 Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 XR-II showing 75,500 miles, (121,602km), but true the miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. Just as the introduction of the new Ford Bronco boosted enthusiasm for classic rigs, so too will the forthcoming reintroduction of the Pajero likely bolster the already enthusiastic energy around vintage utility vehicles like this one.   Exterior The U.S. did not get a 2 door Montero in 1995 so that makes this Balboa Blue Mica over Gray Pajero unique and desirable. The robust brush guard up front in conjunction with the huge rally lights and offset hood scoop also make it instantly recognizable, and we doubt your family car has a JDM style mirror on the front fender! The rig sits tall on aftermarket 16-inch Mozzer wheels and LT245/75R16 Wrangler tires while the incredibly boxy cabin is accentuated by tinted windows, rain guards, and large side mirrors. Ribbed gray cladding adds character and the accompanying wheel flares add width. Imperfections include some fading and clear coat breakdown on horizontal surfaces, some separation of filler trim of the wheel flares, rust staining on the chrome bumper cover, a rust bubble on the hood, touched up chips, a few nicks, and a scuff on the front and bumpers, dulling of the paint on the side, dent in the lower chrome bull bar, and rust on the fog light housing.  Interior The tidy interior begins with gray plastic door panels with a patterned cloth insert and both doors are clean. That cloth from the doors makes its way to the bucket seats in front and the 2+2 in the back where occupants enjoy cupholders and armrests. Nice ergonomics greet the driver with a three spoke right hand steering wheel ahead of a clean instrument cluster framed in charcoal plastic under a visor like dash pad. To the left you'll find an A/C panel and AM/FM/CD/Cassette radio in the center stack and a familiar shifter next to a range selector in the center console, and it's all in very nice condition. Gray carpet is protected by plaid mats and the headliner above is in great shape. There's a rear cargo area accessed through the right hinged hatch and conditions are good in this area as well.  Drivetrain An air intake resides under the hood vent and sends air into the 2.8 liter turbo inline four cylinder diesel engine rated at 125 horsepower, fuel injected, and mated to a 4M40 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is channeled through 4.90 gears at both axles.  Undercarriage This rig might have seen some rain or snow as there's surface rust along the bottom including on the protective skid plate over the gas tank. But in general, things are clean underneath and we do not see any invasive rust or structural issues. Power disc brakes are supplied to all four wheels while a single exhaust flows through a stock style muffler before exiting. Suspension consists of torsion bars in front and coil springs with semi trailing arms in back.  Drive-Ability Like so many of the Japanese cars we test, this one does not disappoint with a fine running engine, decent power, straight tracking, and a succinct and comfortable interior. And no surprise, all functional items operate as intended and you'll find this one in the truck room at Classic Auto Mall! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. The Pajero was discontinued in 2021 after being on sale for nearly 40 years across
