Seller's Notes

1966 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle Convertible Like the Tri-Five Chevys that came before it, the Chevelle Malibu is one of those cars GM aced right out of the gate and continued to perfect. Eventually, the marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history, and at one point, with a full list of body styles, options, trim grades, color combinations, and engines which ranged from mild to outrageous, literally embodied the 'custom built' nature that defines the muscle car era. For consignment, a 1966 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle convertible with a title verified 118,100 actual miles, however these miles are sure to be higher as the odometer is inoperable. Pampered? How's this...our consignor states the car has been garage kept for 30 years, has seen no rain in that time, and has never been smoked in or washed with a hose! Wow, that's some serious care! Exterior Two stage Marina Blue covers the rest of the car with the wonderful 60's style of long, lean panels and straight edges. We'll start in the back this time because it's such a good look, the simple, straight tail lights along a narrow latch panel, trimmed in silver over a contouring chrome bumper and twin tailpipes peeking out. Up front, the fascia dips rearward in the corners, a 1966 field mark, as dual headlights sternly stare forward outside of a metal grille under a flat hood with subtle design lines and it's a great, classic look. 14-inch steel wheels wear the proper covers and the white walls pick up on the white canvas top in good shape with just a touch of some typical discoloration and a small tear, and its plastic window is clean and intact. Imperfections include a spotted mark, a circle paint blotches, alignment issues with the hood and trunk, various scratches and inclusions throughout, bubbling down low, chips, and scuffs on the bumper. Please see the photos. Interior Black crowns line up over light blue vinyl door cards with period classic silver trim and a textured kick panel and both doors present cleanly. Blue vinyl bucket sets are in very good shape and the rear bench is also nice with some fading to the upper sections and seat belts. A black rimmed steering wheel has a few chips and leads to a simple horizontal speedometer with sweeping needle flanked by a gas gauge and unused port. A slightly askew AM/FM radio sits above an added triple gauge pod while a center console holds a clock and T-shaped shifter with indicator window housed in textured black plastic. Some patina here and on the white trim lines of the dashboard. Blue loop carpet covers the floor is partially protected with black rubber mats while the trunk remains mostly barren save for a steel spare. Drivetrain Under the hood is a clean and uncomplicated 327ci V8 from 1968 with a Weiand intake manifold and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, rebuilt 25 years ago It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the 10 bolt rear axle. The car is equipped with headers and power steering. Our consignor states a new fuel pump was added in 2025. Undercarriage Super clean underneath where satin and flat blacks combine for a uniform appearance. Dual exhaust runs through black FlowMaster mufflers before heading to the rear and drum brakes are at all four corners. Coil springs are at both ends with a 4 link helping out in back. Our consignor states the frame was removed in 2025 and all body mounts replaced, seams sealed, and undercoated. Drive-Ability The V8 starts right up and emits a fantastic exhaust note, and we roll this blue Malibu onto the test loop where it performs well with good power, straight tracking and on point braking. The speedometer reads high and bounces around a bit and the left turn signals don't work with the headlights on. Other things of note are the clock and odometer which are both inoperable. Beyond these things, all functions work as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the ti
