Seller's Notes

The Judge's final chapter proved to be its rarest. Pontiac discontinued the Judge package midway through the 1971 model year after producing just 357 hardtops. Finished in Aztec Gold with a Saddle interior and Black vinyl roof, this highly optioned example was equipped with an extraordinary 31 factory options, including factory air conditioning and a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. It hasn't been verified, but the ingredients are certainly present for one-of-one status, combining an unusually rare color combination with one of the most extensively optioned Judge specifications known. Accompanying documentation includes PHS verification, a factory-correct window sticker, restoration photographs, ownership history, and supporting records. Factory Aztec Gold paint is accented by Judge graphics, a functional Ram Air hood with a hood-mounted tachometer, a rear deck spoiler, Rally II wheels, body-colored sport mirrors, and a Black vinyl roof. Additional factory options include Soft-Ray tinted glass and door edge guards, details that reflect the unusually well-equipped nature of this Judge. Completed in 2008, a comprehensive frame-off restoration returned the car to exact factory specifications, with careful attention paid to preserving its highly distinctive color combination and extensive option content. The result is a striking presentation that highlights the aggressive styling of Pontiac's final-year Judge and the uncommon luxury-oriented specification that sets this example apart from many of its contemporaries. Under the hood, Pontiac's 455 HO V8 retains a correct 483677 block casting, YE engine code, matching VIN stampings, and 197 round-port cylinder heads. Functional Ram Air induction helps feed the big-block, which was factory rated at 335 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a VIN-matching Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission, a combination found in just 138 of the 357 Judge hardtops produced for 1971. A factory 12-bolt rear axle equipped with an XF-code Safe-T-Track differential and 3.07 gearing complements the drivetrain. The car is further equipped with Pontiac's Y96 Ride and Handling Package, variable-ratio power steering, and power-assisted front disc brakes. The Saddle interior provides a striking contrast to the Aztec Gold exterior and reflects the luxury-oriented nature of this special-order build. Among the most notable options is the rare factory cassette deck, a feature offered only during the 1971 and 1972 model years and seldom seen today. The cabin retains the purposeful driver-focused layout that defined the GTO while incorporating the additional convenience and comfort features specified by its original owner. Factory air conditioning, a remote trunk release, and a Formula steering wheel complements the unusually extensive list of options, creating one of the most comprehensively equipped Judges known. Representing the final year of Pontiac's legendary Judge package, this numbers-matching example combines rarity, documentation, provenance, and a highly unusual factory specification. With just 357 hardtops produced, only 138 equipped with the TH400 automatic transmission, and a documented configuration that may be unique among known survivors, it stands as one of the most intriguing and thoroughly documented 1971 Judges to emerge in recent years.
