1952 GMC 1/2 Ton Pickup Stepping into the spotlight with a rugged demeanor and a reputation for reliability, the 1952 GMC truck is a testament to American ingenuity and industrial strength. Born from the assembly lines of General Motors, this classic truck was designed to tackle the post war boom's demands, serving as a backbone for small businesses and farms across the nation. Its historical significance is not just rooted in its utilitarian purpose but also in its role in shaping the modern pickup truck. A unique fact that car enthusiasts might find fascinating is that the 1952 model year marked the end of an era for GMC trucks with the iconic bullnose front end, making it a significant collector's piece. Metroparts.com For consignment, a 1952 GMC ½ ton pickup truck showing 63,282 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a faulty odometer. Owned by our consignor for 20 years, this has been kept in the garage and kept out of rain during that time. Exterior Forget apple pie, if you want real Americana, a classic truck with GM's Advanced Design is the way to go and dark green would be an ideal choice, here with single stage Jungle Green coverage. From the rocket inspired hood ornament to the original GMC font aluminum emblem and black running boards, this is as iconic as it gets. GMC is boldly expressed in red on the dog dish hub caps, on fender emblems, and of course, stamped into the tailgate steel where it retains the green body color. The curved rear window affords a look over the bed where black stained planks and black painted rails show some use but are fully intact. Imperfections on this loved truck include scratches and chipped paint down to metal throughout, scuffs, crazing, orange peel, light pitting on some metalwork, and areas of dullness to the paint. Interior Black vinyl panels showing some age, top the green steel inner doors and house the hardware that's in good shape. From there, a simple but effective gray vinyl bench provides the seating and has one small tear but otherwise good, and it fronts a vintage steering wheel with some patina and the basic dash with good looking gauges, knobs, and an original AM radio with ivory knobs and buttons and red numbering. The green dashboard has some chips and age to it but is generally clean and complete. A textured rubberized mat covers the floor and a vinyl headliner is up above, both in decent shape. Drivetrain Here we have a clean 270ci inline six cylinder, rated at 115 horsepower and mated to a 1-barrel carburetor and mated to a 3 on the tree 3-speed manual transmission routing power to the rear axle with 4.11 gears. Undercarriage It's driver quality for this pickup underneath with typical age and surface rust and some residual oil on the rear differential and oil pan up front. A single exhaust runs through a glasspack style muffler and drum brakes are on all four wheels. Leaf springs are found front and rear. Drive-Ability Our consignor tells us it runs well and is dependable and we can certainly confirm the running well part! It starts with ease and carries us around the test loop with no issue, just the raw analogue feel of an unmodified original truck! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
