Seller's Notes

1941 Buick Series 40A Model 44C Convertible Yes, this trimly dashing convertible coupe has the famous Buick Press-A-Button Top, controlled by a small knob under the dash as sketched.  Pull it with the engine running and the top folds down, push it in and the top comes up. With the full-width rear seat, there is room for six in this smart model.  Here's style, power, liveliness, comfort in minimum bumper-to-bumper length.  From the 1941 sales brochure.  For consignment, a 1941 Buick Series 40A Model 44C convertible with a title verified 103,550 actual miles. This no expense spare custom combines modern components with classic design. In 1941, Buick considered this a smaller car but by today's standard, this is a big car with a big presence! Exterior Gleaming Maroon Metallic paint now adorns the outside of a car that left the assembly plant with single stage paint that glowed with all the sheen it could muster. Now this bright car can really show off that side spear, those epic Buick fender vents, and its big bumpers. The grille is painted gray which is artfully extended onto the hood, over the cowl, onto the windshield frame, and around the cab, lined with gold that picks up on the vintage Buick crest on the nose. That's the perfect base for the gray canvas top, while 17-inch Foose wheels cap off this street rod version of Buick's drop top. Imperfections on this beauty include some minor checks, numerous touched up rough panel edges, some loose threads on the canvas, some paint runs, some non-even coloration, and a variety of several other general inclusions in the paint.   Interior Maroon and gray panels alternate on the doors where the armrest visually blends with the stitched central insert while carpeted kick panels are delineated by polished trim and both doors present nicely. Inside, you have gray leather buckets of a more modern era showing just a touch of age and controlled by electronic switches. The bench in back is true to the palette with gray seats bisected by a maroon panel, mirrored horizontally in the rear walls. A handsome wood rimmed banjo style steering wheel fronts the clean, gray painted dash with Vintage Gauge's Woodward series which combine a classic look and modern technology. The chrome is bright and obvious on the steering column and the central dash trim, buttons, and faceplate for the AM/FM/USB radio. Old Air Products initiates the need for the custom center console where the controls are housed along with vents and electric window switches. Modern cruising would not be complete without the obligatory cupholders and they are here. Gray carpet covers the floor and for attention to detail, the visors are designed with maroon and gray as well. The fully finished trunk houses a battery and spare Foose.  Drivetrain Up front, you'll find a show worthy 401ci Nailhead V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor and a horsepower rating of 325 horsepower. For those counting, that's about three times the power the car would have had in 1941! The chrome laden powerplant is mated to an ST400 3-speed automatic transmission and things rotate back to the '64 Olds 12 bolt axle with 3.23 gears. The car has Sanderson headers, an aluminum radiator and shroud, electric fan, power steering, power brakes, A/C, and runs on a 12 volt system.  Undercarriage Visually, she's super clean and stunning. For components, let's start with the suspension which includes a Mustang II front end with 2 drop spindles and 4-link with QA1 coil overs in back. Dual exhaust hits an H-pipe then finds a pair of Magnaflow mufflers before exiting out back via chrome tips. Borrowing some components from Chevrolet, the brakes are composed of power discs up front and power drums in back. Drive-Ability A healthy exhaust note emerges from a turn of the key and we roll this burgundy Buick onto the test loop where it handles well, provides excellent power, and a comfortable and confidence inducing interior. We note the radio turns on b
