Seller's Notes

1974 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Notably, the 1974 Corvette was the first to feature polyurethane bumpers at both the front and rear, setting the stage for future designs and adding a unique touch to its already striking appearance. This transition symbolized the Corvette's ability to navigate new crash safety regulations while maintaining its aesthetic appeal. The 1974 model stands out as a true milestone in Corvette history, representing a blend of style, safety, and innovation. Vette-vues.com  For consignment, a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a title verified 59,673 actual miles. Here is one with a numbers matching engine, placing it a bit higher in the collectability pecking order.  Exterior There's no mistaking Corvette Orange and this one has the coke bottle silhouette profile that has been likened to other fanciful shapes in the world and results in subconscious and not so subconscious attraction to the car. This is the year of the split rear bumper wearing the epic quad light set up with reverse lights embedded on the inboard circles. Polished A-pillars lead to the tan canvas soft while 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels live on the opposite end of the car. Fender vents are topped by the scripted Stingray call out while sky facing door handles cater to a flat hand approach. Imperfections here include numerous cracks and taped repairs on the nose piece, numerous paint chips, cracking, flex cracks on every side  especially heavy near the front, extensive inclusions and areas of crazing.  Interior Medium Saddle colors the interior beginning on the door panels which are generally clean, though we note some damage on top of the driver's door and passenger's A-pillar. The bucket seats show some age, holes and wear, piped in a monochromatic saddle tone that is still inviting in shape. There's a three spoke steering wheel, rimmed in firm black rubber, leading to the standard instrument cluster that presents cleanly. The cockpit like arrangement of gauges in the center are backed by a textured black plastic faceplate and an updated AM/FM/Cassette radio resides in the center. The center console base plate for the shifter is woodgrain and in decent shape with a slight patina and a chrome ball shifter, all over tan carpet that shows some use and mirrored in condition by the carpet in the cargo area behind the seats.  Drivetrain M/T valve covers highlight the clean engine bay where the numbers matching 350ci L48 V8 resides, fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 195 horsepower. It's backed by the numbers matching T10 4-speed manual sending power to the rear axle with 3.36 gears with Positraction. The car has power steering and power brakes.  Undercarriage Driver quality conditions prevail underneath where the dual exhaust travels through stock style mufflers before exiting out back. Four wheel power disc brakes are on board and suspension is made up of coil springs in front, and Corvette's unique independent rear suspension is present and capped off with transverse leaf springs.   Drive-Ability We never get tired of taking Vettes around the test loop and this one starts up fine and immediately demonstrated an engine miss, indicating a need for a tune up and some fresh fuel. Functionally, all items afforded the driver operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. With a bit of TLC, this American classic can be brought up to the next level and enjoyed by its next custodian. It's a Corvette collector's dream, or a great way to start a collection! This is an eye catching, clean ride that is ready for a new home.
