Matchless Crowd Racing located in the Chiba prefecture of Japan is perhaps one of the most famous GT-R tuners of all time. Featured on popular media platforms such as Video Option countless times, they’re extremely well known for heavy hitting Nissan builds (primarily R34s) that are structured around circuit capability. Kobayashi’s red 34R circuit build has brought lots of attention to the shop in recent years and can be found all over the internet as a direct competitor (and friend) of Mine’s and other big GT-R tuners. Professional drivers such as Keichi Tsuchiya have shined light on the level of engineering brought forth by MCR since the early 2000’s. RMC Miami is happy to present the first 34R in the United States fully prepared by MCR. MCR was most famous for holding the C1 Loop record time on the street which often referred to the Nurburgring of Japan, so much so that it is there logo.
Setup
The build platform is an extremely clean, low mile chassis 34R finished in KR4 Sonic Silver that’s been tuned for easy street driving with consistent track capability. The exterior fashion presents a timeless Z-tune front bumper and fender setup with Hasemi side steps and rear spats. Simple and clean with slightly improved aerodynamics. The factory wing is utilized with high-rise Carbon fiber uprights.
The powertrain setup puts out a linear power curve peaking at around 500 horsepower. Factory-location HKS GT-3 turbines paired with Tomei cams and HKS pistons make the setup consistent and acoustics are controlled by an MCR in-house equal length titanium front pipe and Taro rear muffler. Power comes on smoothly but with an old-school feel retaining some lag in lower RPM. A Nismo copper-mix clutch handles the output and makes driving on the street headache-free. The engine build has around 23k kilometers. The engine bay presents a clean OEM+ look with factory intakes and a flat-gray timing cover and nylon braided lines leading to custom catch cans.
The footwork setup includes a set of Hypermax V4 coilovers by HKS, Cusco arms, and a Brembo big brake kit with a 6-pot/380mm front setup and STD/350mm rear setup. A gorgeous Nismo titanium strut brace sits in the clean engine bay. Drivability is smooth on the coilovers and the brake setup provides excellent bite without excessive force input or noise. Jet black 18” TE37 RT wheels wrapped in 285/35 Yokohama A050 tires
The OEM+ full interior presents a black Recaro RSG-GK driver seat and an OEM passenger seat reupholstered by Robson Leather along with the rear seats. The Momo steering wheel with a works bell quick release provides comfortable grip. Every component on the center console and dash including the display screen presents extremely clean. The factory shifter (with MCR shift knob) shifts smoothly through every gear and compliments the feel of the entire build.
Motive
Overall, the build presents an extremely defined motive: the ultimate street 34R. Quality, power, comfort all in one build but with the ability to take a beating on the circuit. MCR gave this chassis a new refreshed feel, tight performance with good street mannerisms. Smooth cold start, smooth quiet idle, and smooth day-to-day driving are included with this build but the dialed powertrain, braking and suspension systems give it super enthusiastic feel.
