Seller's Notes

1964 1/2 Ford Mustang Convertible - Rare Early Production Example - Wimbledon White / Red Interior We are proud to offer this beautiful 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang Convertible, a rare early production example from the very beginning of the legendary Mustang story. Finished in classic Wimbledon White with Red vinyl bucket seats, this Mustang has one of the most attractive and iconic color combinations available. According to the trim tag, this Mustang was originally built as a Wimbledon White convertible with Red standard vinyl bucket seats, powered by the 260 V8 2-barrel engine, backed by a factory 3-speed manual transmission and a 3.00 rear end. It was produced at the Dearborn, Michigan assembly plant on July 9, 1964, and sold new through the Indianapolis sales zone. The original 260 V8 has been replaced with a stronger 289 V8 equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor, giving the car excellent drivability while still keeping a very period-correct Mustang feel. The engine compartment is nicely detailed with a chrome engine dress-up kit, adding a clean and classic look under the hood. The factory 3-speed manual transmission remains part of the car's engaging driving experience along with the power front disc brakes. This Mustang was restored several years ago and remains a very nice example today. It runs and drives great, with a solid, confident feel on the road. The car features a nice white power convertible top, factory center console, upgraded AM/FM radio, desirable Rally-Pac gauges, and upgraded Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich radial tires. This is a very nice driving car that presents beautifully and captures everything people love about the first-year Mustang convertible. With its early production 1964 1/2 heritage, great colors, V8 power, manual transmission, and tasteful upgrades, this is a really great example of the beginning of the legendary Mustang. A beautiful, fun, and highly collectible early Mustang convertible ready to enjoy.
