1969 Camaro Z28 RS Hardtop The 1969 Camaro was the highest volume first generation Camaro, selling 243,085 units in a long model run that extended from September 26, 1968, through the end of November, 1969. The 1969 model year was extended into November due to manufacturing problems that delayed the introduction of the second generation model planned for 1970 which wasn't introduced until February 26, 1970. Only 1,308 Z28's were equipped with the Rally Sport package in '69 For consignment, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RS hardtop with a title verified 44,643 actual miles. This 302 powered Camaro was special ordered, according to our consignor, with blue stripes over the hood and decklid. Exterior At first glance, this two stage Dover White specimen is a stunner, with painted blue stripes that flow over the hood and rising cowl to the filler panel, deck lid, and spoiler on back. Subtle body lines are accentuated over the wheel with contouring blue pinstriping while the bold quarter panel faux ducts visually pop off the paint. 69's RS bi level tail lights are complemented by the red Z in the Z28 emblem while the white Rally Sport callouts on the fenders are a bit more low key. Headlight covers are also white and flank a black grille over a front apron where the white lenses of the marker lights reside. 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels hold F70-15 tires with a vintage style letters out presentation. Imperfections include significant crazing throughout, rear fenders, and wing, drop stains on the topside of the fender and nose, numerous chips and scuffs, areas of orange peel finish, and uneven application of blue under the spoiler. Interior Dark blue vinyl door panels are in nice shape with a tear by a mounting screw noted on the driver's side. The bucket seats and rear bench are also blue with grain vinyl framing a tuck and roll patterned insert and all are looking good. Horizontal woodgrain dresses the blue steering wheel and repeats on the center console and mid panel of the dash. Round AC gauges in square black plastic housing face the driver with a clock front and center followed by an AM/FM radio further down. A blue dash pad folds over the edge and a grab handle is provided to the passenger. The driver's handle is a white ball handled Hurst shifter behind the rally gauge package, all over blue looped carpet in decent condition and below the high and tight headliner showing one stain.  Drivetrain Under the hood, you'll find a period correct 302ci V8 with a correct 4-barrel carburetor over a 1970 intake manifold. The powerplant is rated at 290 horses and is backed by a period correct Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission routing power to a 12 bolt axle with 3.73 gears and Positraction.  Undercarriage Clean underneath with minimal surface rust reserved for the dual exhaust that runs through a stock style muffler in back emitting two tail pipes exiting through straight pipes. Power brakes are found as front disc and rear drum and suspension includes coil spring and leaf springs, front and back respectively.  Drive-Ability She fires up and serves as our temporary chariot as we take a lap around the test loop to find good power and a strong running pony car. It tracks straight, handles well, and stops on demand. Other than the clock and reverse lights, all functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. This is a great looking Camaro with the RS package, one of the most iconic cosmetic packages ever to be assigned to a car! A near flawless interior accompanies the unique exterior spec and the drivetrain provides all the satisfaction of a '69 muscle car. 124379L506938 1-Chevrolet 24-Camaro V8 37-2 Door Hardtop Sport Coupe 9-1969 L-Van Nuys, CA Assy Plant 506938-Sequential Unit Number TRIM TAG ST 69 12437-1969
