It produces significantly more power than the factory 305 V8 that came standard in 1984 Caballeros, which was rated at around 150 horsepower in its base two-barrel configuration. The ZZ 350 is a reliable, well-supported engine with readily available parts and a broad base of mechanical knowledge behind it. Backed by a TH250 3-speed automatic, power delivery is smooth and uncomplicated. The TH250 is a light-duty version of GM's Turbo-Hydramatic family and was a common pairing in A-body cars and trucks of this era.
