1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu For Sale This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu has been built as a pro-touring restomod, finished in Marina Blue over an updated interior and running a modern drivetrain, brakes, and suspension package while keeping the right period details outside. Every major mechanical system has been brought forward without losing the character of the body it sits under.Power comes from a Dart SHP 406 V8 with Profiler aluminum heads featuring 210cc intake runners, 10.7:1 compression, a 750 cfm AED carburetor on a one-inch spacer, and a two-inch cowl induction hood feeding it. Cooling is handled by a Cold Case radiator built as a clone of the factory unit, paired with an L78 fan on a heavy-duty fan clutch - a combination that has shown no signs of overheating in use. A Rob MC mechanical six-valve fuel pump handles fuel delivery, and an ME Wagner dual-stage PCV valve manages crankcase ventilation at both idle and cruise. Behind the engine is a Tremec TKX five-speed with overdrive, a hydraulic clutch, and a G-Force transmission crossmember, sending power through a custom larger-diameter driveshaft with 1330 U-joints to a 1966 Chevelle 12-bolt rear. The rear is built with Moser axles, an Eaton Positraction unit, a Richmond ring and pinion on 3.73 gears, a Moser cover, and a carrier stud kit. Pinion angle has been set correctly. The chassis is set up for street and back-road work rather than stripped-down stiffness. Viking coilovers sit at all four corners, paired with UMI adjustable sway bars, and the body bushings were intentionally replaced with stock rubber rather than poly to preserve ride quality. Steering is a three-ratio-turn manual box with a tilt column and Power Forged steering and linkage components throughout. Braking is handled by four-wheel disc brakes using C5 Corvette rotors and pads. Riddler 695 wheels measure 18 by 9.5 inches with 5.5 inches of backspacing, mounted on half-inch studs and wrapped in Nitto tires.Inside, the door panels, carpet, headliner, and dash pad are all new, with the original 1966 four-speed console retained and fitted with a side-saddle shifter to match the TKX. The original buckets have been rebuilt, a Classic Instruments cluster sits behind a 1969 Camaro-style steering wheel, and a Custom Auto Sound head unit handles audio with Dynamat under the carpet. All window mechanisms have been rebuilt. Bodywork includes new rear quarters, a new trunk floor, and a replaced driver door skin, while the fenders, trunk lid, and floor pan are original to the car. The gas tank and sending unit are new, the original dash harness was retained, and the underhood harnesses were replaced along with a one-wire alternator. SS rocker panel moldings, aftermarket halogen headlights, new exterior trim, and quarter emblems sourced from a 1965 Malibu SS finish the look, with aftermarket bumpers and re-chromed factory GM rear bumper guards.NFI Empire specializes in classic, exotic, modified, and luxury vehicles.
