Seller's Notes

1970 Corvette Convertible 1970 was the heyday of the muscle car era. You could have your pick of a Chevelle 454 SS, a Plymouth Hemi Cuda, Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang Boss 429, and a long list of those cars with a slightly detuned trim but almost as revered. Corvette was just 17 years old in 1970 and saw minor changes over the wildly popular '69. Of the 17,316 Vettes produced in '70, just 6,648 of them were convertibles.    For consignment, a 1970 Chevrolet Corvette convertible showing 13,486 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption and Federal disclosure laws. Dressed in trim tag correct Donnybrooke Green, named for the Minnesota raceway, (now known as Brainerd International Raceway), this car also retains its matching numbers drivetrain and Protect-O-Plate. Exterior This shark with its chromed bumpers and lower chromed egg crate grille is in the sweet spot of the C3 years. Just prior to the performance killing EPA emissions add ons, and still enjoying chrome, the remainder of the body in fiberglass is a single stage coverage of Donnybrooke Green with some clear coat applied. Silver edge trim on the side gills accentuates the vents and the coveted scripted Stingray is above each. A white canvas convertible top shows some discoloration, and the hazy window is torn, while the black vinyl covered fiberglass hardtop presents in nice shape. 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels are the perfect fit and are wrapped with F70-15 tires with an early 2022 date code. Imperfections include numerous surface scratches, flex and spiderweb cracking, what appears to be hair in the clear coat on the hood, chips throughout, streaking in clear, crazing throughout, chipped fiberglass on the spoiler, and wear where the tops meet the body, scratches. Please refer to the photographs for detailed images.  Interior A swing of the sculpted doors and we see Saddle styled door panels which present nicely in all vinyl coverage. Inside are Saddle leather high back buckets, column stitched and nicely cushioned in good shape, though a tear, some wear, and loose seams are noted on the passenger seat. The dash, center console, steering wheel center and carpet continue the saddle brown theme while black covers the wheel rim and the faceplate of the center gauge cluster. On the center console, features are highlighted on the black plastic with silver painted rims and the legendary ball shifter with lockout grips, rises like a flagpole topper. An AM/FM radio is on the center stack and in lieu of a glove box, document/map pockets sit in front of the passenger. Loop style carpet covers the foot wells and the rear cargo area where it shows some light wear and looseness.  Drivetrain Driver quality conditions are found in the bay but so do the numbers matching 350ci L46 V8 with an impressive 350 horsepower and a 4-barrel carburetor.  It's mated to the numbers matching Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission and power is routed to the rear axle with 3.70 gears and Positraction.  Undercarriage Time induced surface rust colors many of the components on the otherwise clean and solid undercarriage. Here, dual exhaust travel through stock style mufflers and exit in epic fashion through square chrome tips that tuck neatly into the contoured valance. Disc brakes occupy all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs in front, and Corvette's unique independent rear suspension is present and capped off with transverse leaf springs. Drive-Ability The comfortable cabin and race inspired stance are immediately satisfying even before you turn the key. Then you turn the key and the 350 provides the sweet sound of American sports car prominence as we glide this green machine on to the test loop. It's got good power, straight tracking, and handling that leaves no surprises in its proficiency. All functions on this survivor work as intended and it's time to put this one under the lights.
