Nobody has ever fully agreed on whether the El Camino is a car or a truck, and that is precisely why it has always had such a loyal following. It does not fit a category, it does not try to, and it does not need to. The El Camino was discontinued after 1987 when the Chevrolet S-10 was outselling it too heavily to justify continuing production, and every example that survived is now a piece of a closed chapter.
