4,161 miles
1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Uncap it! The Corvette convertible takes the same basic Sting Ray idea with the lid off and turns into top down driving for two. And there are different ways to put the top down. Soft top or removable hardtop, pick either one as standard or order them together at extra cost. Be yourself! A lot of extra cost features aren't needed to make Corvette driving more enthusiastic, comfortable and convenient. But just in case, for the sports car connoisseur, here's a list of special items that can be ordered. The 1968 sales brochure then goes on to list dozens of possible options.  The variables are endless!  For consignment, a 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible showing 4,161 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. This award winning Corvette has been owned by our consignor for 18 years, retains its numbers matching drivetrain, and has all the throwback looks to the 70's that you could ask for. Exterior Now appearing in two stage grandeur, the Corvette Bronze paint gels with the trim tag and code 992 for you Vette fanatics! The front features a wrap-around chrome bumper and grille surround, and the shine is picked up by a bright rocker panel trim between the wheels, partially obstructed by the mean looking black side pipes. The dramatic wheels here are 15-inch Vectors wrapped in staggered size tires and functional louvers are incorporated behind the front wheels and allow hot air to escape through the shark-like gill openings. Our black cloth top and its plastic window are in great condition as is the color matched accessory hardtop. Imperfections are few and include a crack in the paint on the front fender, a couple of spider cracks, and some damage to the front integrated air dam. Interior Nicely molded black door panels are sporty, practical, and clean and the seats feature diamond stitch black vinyl and both present well. Black looped carpeting covers the cargo area and the cabin in fine fashion and the footwell also have Stingray branded mats. A thick 3 spoke steering wheel fronts dual gauges in the sightline of the driver while a wall of five smaller gauges make up the center console where the AM/FM radio still resides. A row of indicator lights leads off on the center console that also houses the climate controls and of course, the shifter, here with a slightly torn boot and diagram to the right.  It's all in very nice condition. Drivetrain And now, for those two special words, numbers matching! And so it is, with the clean 327ci L79 V8, putting out 350 horsepower and fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor. But wait, there's more, as Ron Popiel used to say. Behind the engine, the numbers matching Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission that routes power to the 3.70 gears in back with Positraction. Headers are in the clean bay too, beginning the exhaust process. Undercarriage More driver quality here with a mottled appearance of some grime, chipping paint, oxidized metal and some surface rust. The headers lead directly to the side pipes while disc brakes occupy all four corners. Coil spring suspension is up front while the rear is more complex with a frame anchored differential, tubular driveshafts, transverse strut rods, and transverse leaf spring.  Drive-Ability A fair weathered Morgantown day allowed us to experience this pure American sports car in full sun and with a masterful roar. The big V8 pushed this car onto the test loop with obvious power and acceleration on hand, good visibility, and of course, great handling. There are lots of gauges and lights to check and we scrolled our checklist to find only a few faults. The reverse lights have been removed, radio, and brake lights don't work. All other functions operate as intended on this 58 year old. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your pur
