Dodge introduced the Super Bee in 1968 as a working man's ticket to the muscle car boom. Plymouth had found lightning in a bottle with the Road Runner, and Dodge did not want to be left out. For around three grand you got a big block V8, heavy duty underpinnings, and a badge that meant business. The name came from an in-house contest at Dodge, with senior designer Harvey J.
