46,737 miles
1940 Ford 85 Series Standard Coupe The only place you'll find 8 cylinder performance is in an 8 cylinder engine. That's why the Ford V8 stands alone in the low price field! You can read about Ford performance, you can hear about it from pleased and proud Ford owners, or you can feel it for yourself. It's the most fun, firsthand. See what this big car really has under its hood. Test it in traffic, on the hills, or out where the roads run long and straight. We hope you'll be hard boiled about it. We know what this car can do, because we built it. From a 1940 Ford print ad.  For consignment, a 1940 Ford 85 Series standard coupe showing 46,737 miles, but the true miles are unknown. We've got some modern amenities here including a 12 volt system, a CD player, and power steering. Outside it remains unmistakably 40's, but those Halibrand wheels filling up the wells tell a different story. We call that a clue.   Exterior Although color is an individual choice, sometimes everyone can agree on a successful choice, and we think that's what we have here with the two stage Champagne Metallic that looks fantastic on the car. Maybe because it both hints at vintage and avoids outlandish all at the same time, but it just works. The car's profile has a forward cant and even a subtle rake to the stance but if we had to pick our favorite angle, it would be that ¾ rear view with the articulated rear fenders sweeping back with the extended, rounded decklid and corporal striped tail lights, all underscored by a chrome bumper jutting out like a bodyguard keeping others at bay. The front fascia has personality with a high nose, narrow angular grille, and robust light rings that resemble Eeyore's gaze. 15-inch Halibrand polished wheels carry staggered size tires with a mid 2023 date code. Imperfections include various scuffs, chips, inclusions, cracking filler, scratches, bubbling, and chin scrapes. Interior Another objectively nice choice is made with the burgundy and tan interior that begins with pleated burgundy inserts in the door panels, burgundy leather bucket seats with tan piping, and burgundy and tan alternating on the side walls and it's all in nice shape. There are two small rear seats that retain the palette while up front, even the banjo style steering wheel is wrapped in burgundy, fronting a tan painted dash with billet faceplate around white gauges. A central grille gives way to a smooth glove box and an A/C panel resides over an AM/FM/CD radio. The center stack cascades to house tachometer, center console, and cupholders. Rose colored carpet below, more burgundy and tan piping above, and the trunk is fully finished in the same and shows more use than the rest. Drivetrain Lots of polished components and billet under the hood, gracing the attractive 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission of the TH350 variety, and power is routed to the Ford 8.8 rear axle. Power brakes, power steering and air conditioning are on board and the car runs on a 12 volt system. Undercarriage Clean and dry, the underside is brightened by the dual exhaust and Turbo mufflers while power brakes are divided as front disc and rear drum. A Mustang II front end provides suspension and steering, and leaf springs occupy the back. Drive-Ability A great sounding exhaust introduces itself when we prime the carb and turn the key. Then this street rod rolls onto the test loop where the comfortable interior is a nice place to experience good power, straight tracking, and excellent handling. You've got lots of modern amenities here but we note the A/C is not working. All other functions work as they should and it's back to the mall for the champagne coupe. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Essentially a turnkey str
