69,728 miles

1989 Ford Mustang LX Convertible In its heyday, the Foxbody captured the minds of young car enthusiasts with its combination of affordability and performance potential. That magic recipe turned the corner for Ford performance. No longer was Brand X the only game in town for aftermarket support. The Fox 5.0 created its own industry, and that legacy lives on today with the incredible modern Mustangs we enjoy. Motor Trend, July 2014 For consignment, a 1989 Ford Mustang LX convertible showing 69,729 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. Once ubiquitous, Foxbodies are hitting their stride in current desirability. While nearly 200,000 Mustangs were built with the 5.0 liter in 1989, today the most common place to see them is in a car show. Exterior              Finished in a nice shade of blue, the Bright Regatta Blue Metallic Mustang is a handsome little pony car, especially with the white canvas top providing contrast and the 16-inch Chrome Pony wheels providing a bit of showy bling. They're wrapped in 225/55ZR16 tires with a mid 2022 date code, providing a bit of high performance assurance at all four corners. The white top of the Cervinis rear wing is a nice touch too and of course, the LX angle cut straight pipe exhaust were, and are, just muscular enough. The Mustang stampings on both bumpers have been filled with white as more attention to detail renders this car show worthy. The coveted 5.0 badge is one each fender and if you weren't paying attention at a traffic light back then, this little commuter car would stretch out in front of you before you knew it! Imperfections noted here include a few rips in the soft top, some inclusions in the paint, rock spray, scuffs, evidence of filler, and scrapes on the front apron. Interior Ford wasn't messing around with their luxury performance car in its 25th year, so they dolled up the interior with fine colors and materials, beginning with the Oxford White and Regatta Blue door panels, incredibly simply by today's standards, but a big step above the base Mustangs at the time and both doors present cleanly. The white leather seats, buckets up front and 2+2 in back, are covered but do show some age with slight discoloration and some wear on the driver's bolster. The steering wheel is simple but does have some thumb controls and it fronts a dash likely used across the Ford line at the time, basic as can be. A/C knobs top a more modern radio screen that displays the AM/FM/CD functions while the T-handle shifter shows a touch of wear over a plastic faceplate in good shape. Blue carpet is below and the trunk is clean and taken up in large part by the Kicker subwoofer and amp. Drivetrain The heart of the matter is the venerable 5.0 liter V8 with 225 horsepower, fuel injected and tied to an AOD 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the Ford 8.8 inch rear axle with 3.27 gears and TracLoc. The car has a BBK cold air intake and MSD Pro Billet distributor. Factory headers are also onboard and the bay presents cleanly. Undercarriage This is a clean underside with some road spray and very little residual oil about. We have dual exhaust running through Thrush mufflers before exiting in LX fashion in the back. Power brakes are here as front disc and rear drum and suspension consists of coil springs at both ends with a 4 link in back. Drive-Ability No complaints here as this buttoned up Foxbody starts, idles, runs, and drives just fine! It's got nice acceleration and perhaps its best attribute, the right size for tossing around when the mood hits, while otherwise well mannered in traffic and normal driving. All functions in this particular example work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Not only are clean Foxbodies getting harder to find, but thos
