40,997 miles

1999 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertible The Z28's 5.7 liter LS1 V8, a slightly detuned version of the Corvette's engine, is small compared with GM's old big blocks, but its displacement is vast compared with that of most passenger car engines offered today. The torque curve is like the Mississippi River, broad, deep, and flat. Once the Z28 begins to assert itself, it's all over. In the end, then, the Z28 takes another round in this ongoing rivalry and continues to be one of the best performance buys on the planet. Excerpted from Car and Driver's February 1999 comparison of the Z28 and Ford Mustang GT. For consignment, a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with a title verified 40,997 actual miles. This is a one owner car that's always been garage kept, always used for enjoyment and never employed as a daily driver. It comes to you with service records and a copy of the window sticker. What a find! Exterior This car is awash in Flame Red paint with tasteful, contrasting tan canvas soft top. There's also contrast in the black and the modest Z28 call outs on the fender, but everything else is glossy and clean red paint. In profile, this car is a robust wedge with the top up and a wind cheating laser with that top down as the raked windshield, straight shoulder line, and flat flowing rear wing makes easy work of oncoming air. The tri-colored tail light lenses break up the sea of red out back and are immediately recognizable, while rectangular exhaust exhausts the product of the V8's combustion. 16-inch chrome wheels carry 50 series tires with a mid 2019 date code. Imperfections are limited to a small scratch on the hood, an inclusion on the wing, a surface scratch on a fender, and a scuff on a rear panel. Interior Standard fare here included Neutral and black plastics with a patterned cloth insert on the doors and fully ergonomic handles and controls, both looking great. Two tone Neutral cloth bucket seats are up front on this F-body, and along with the deep 2+2 seats in back, present very nicely. A leather wrapped black steering wheel holds an airbag in the center and leads to a simple gauge cluster under a single pane of plexiglass with just the pertinent information displayed. The center stack is an integrated arrangement of the AM/FM/CD radio and simple climate controls, all with plastic buttons and knobs and in great shape. The center console houses the shifter, a cupholder, and the armrest and storage compartment that have all held up very well over the past 25 years. Low pile tan carpet looks showroom fresh and the deep trunk is fully finished and clean.     Drivetrain Under the hood is a GM's venerable 5.7 liter LS1 V8, fuel injected and putting out 305 horsepower. It's tied to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 3.23 gears and Positraction. Undercarriage Clean conditions are found underneath where a single exhaust runs through an original muffler which emits two tailpipes that terminate in rectangular tips. Coil spring suspension is found front and rear with a torque arm in the back. Four wheel disc brakes are also onboard. Other than some general patina, the underside is clean and dry. Drive-Ability The LS1 fires right up and in short order, we find ourselves on the test loop where the F-body delivers good power, straight tracking, and excellent handling. Everything works on this well preserved example with the exception of the up and down motion of the power mirrors; no deal breaker here! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. A one-owner performance car from 1999 with an LS1 engine and about 40,000 miles? We'll keep this part short so you can run to the phone and register your interest on this fantastic find. Operators are standing by! 2G1FP32G0X2140083 2-Canada G-General Motors 1-Chevrole
