It has an estimated 50 mile range on battery power (ideal for local commuting) but also has a GM 4 cylinder 2.0 liter gas engine that generates power to the electric motors once the battery power is depleted - this extends the range an additional 250 miles. On long journeys you simply fill up and continue on your way. The Karma also draws energy from regenerative braking and a solar panel on the roof. Original MSRP was over $131,000. Now only $36,900.
