Seller's Notes

1954 Ford Crestline 4 Door Sedan The new fashion car for the American Road; Crestline Four Door Sedan. No matter where you go, you won't find a newer or more beautiful sedan, a car that is more 'at home' in the smartest circles. You get all the comfort and convenience offered in America's finest cars plus the smooth responsiveness of America's most modern engines. And you can choose any of those worth while additions formerly associated with America's costliest cars; power steering, power brakes, power operated windows and front seat, plus Fordomatic. From the 1954 Ford sales brochure. For consignment, a 1954 Ford Crestline 4 door sedan showing 62,637 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. Here's the proverbial diamond in the rough! An unrestored but complete and running car that would be the ideal candidate for restoration or drive as is, the survivor you see here! Exterior Classic 50's styling includes two colors on the body, starting with a Raven Black roof over a Light Yellow body and lots of bold, polished stainless to accentuate body lines, window reveals, to simply send something down the side of the car for ornamentation. The back doors are home to a body bulge that hints of earlier cars with flared fenders and the requisite gravel guard and as the cherry on top, the car's name is called out in scripted chrome. An aeronautical face is highlighted by the bulleted nose and wing like grille bar, as if a small prop plane is driving this car, topped by the aircraft inspired hood ornament.  This unrestored exterior shows some typical dullness to the single stage paint, rust spots, scuffs or pitting on the metal work, rough textured roof paint, chips or peeling paint throughout, paint runs, cracked glass, deglazing on windows, a ding, and some filler.  Interior Brown vinyl and tan cloth trade places on the door panels while original Sandalwood paint covers the header and window frame with all four doors presenting nicely. Brown piping dresses the tan cloth panels that are solid colored over patterned material and both front and rear bench seats are also in good shape. Camel vinyl wraps the original steering wheel which fronts an original dash and instrument cluster featuring the ever epic transparent speedometer over a panel of spun aluminum and black knobs.  To the right, an AM radio and clock for all passengers to see under clean brown dash pad and over tan loop carpet and mats that are in fine condition. The headliner is also tan and looks showroom fresh and the trunk is finished in a fitted tan mat.  Drivetrain Here we have driver quality conditions for the appearance of the 239ci V8, rated at 130 horsepower and fueled by a 2-barrel carburetor. It's mated to the Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission which routes power to the rear axle and 3.31 gears. The car operates on a 6 volt system.  Undercarriage Plenty of patina on this side of things with typical surface rust, oil film on and around the pan and rear differential, and more invasive type rust on body braces, inner rocker panel, and some belly pans. A single exhaust runs through the stock style muffler and drum brakes are on all four of the 14-inch wheels. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in the back.  Drive-Ability The V8 starts right up and rolls this yellow shoebox onto the test loop where it runs well and tracks straight. The interior is certainly comfortable and visibility through the myriad of windows is good. Of note, the radio, clock, front turn signals and heater blower are all not working, but all other functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  Here we have a shoebox full of options. Drive it as is and enjoy a cool car from 1954. Or, make a project out of it and restore it for a little extra
