Seller's Notes

The Willys Jeep Station Wagon is widely credited as the first mass-market all-steel station wagon ever built, introduced in 1946 and designed by renowned industrial designer Brooks Stevens. It predates the Ford Bronco, the International Scout, and the Jeep Wagoneer that eventually replaced it, which gives this vehicle a legitimate claim as one of the earliest ancestors of every SUV on the road today. This one is finished in Royal Blue Metallic and is fitted with the Super Hurricane inline six, the most capable engine configuration the wagon was offered with, backed by the Warner Gear T-90 three-speed manual and the Dana 18 dual-range transfer case.
The 3.7 liter Super Hurricane produced 105 horsepower and was specifically selected by Willys for buyers who needed serious off-road capability and working utility. The Dana 18 transfer case gives you both high and low range four-wheel drive, which in 1958 was a level of off-road hardware that very few production vehicles offered. The T-90 manual keeps the driver fully connected to the drivetrain.
Inside, the grey leather bench seat is clean and well suited to the upright, utilitarian character of the cabin. Wood slats in the floor are a detail that suits this truck perfectly and give it the honest, working vehicle feel that made the Willys Wagon so useful for so many years. A compass and thermometer mounted on the dash are practical touches that tell you this truck was built and kept by someone who actually used it.
The Willys Wagon stayed in production from 1946 all the way through 1965 with relatively few changes, which is a testament to how well the original design was executed. Finding one in Royal Blue in this configuration, with the Super Hurricane, the dual-range transfer case, and the wood floor intact, is the kind of thing that stops people who know what they are looking at.
