Yes, this IS300 has over 200,000 miles, but that is hardly alarming for the legendary 2JZ-GE engine and this exceptionally durable platform. When Lexus designed the IS, the company was determined to attract a younger generation of buyers and compete directly with the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Lexus reportedly gave its engineering and design teams considerable freedom to develop something genuinely special, and the result was one of the best compact rear-wheel-drive sport sedans of its era. The quality of the materials and attention to detail are immediately noticeable. The interior features leather and Alcantara upholstery with contrasting piping, metal door-sill plates, metal speaker grilles, aluminum pedals, excellent steering-wheel ergonomics, and one of the most distinctive gauge-cluster designs ever fitted to a production car. Clear taillights, which became a major aftermarket trend, were installed from the factory, while xenon headlights were standard equipment. This particular IS300 is especially desirable for several reasons. It is a true one-owner survivor with extensive service history. More importantly, it was never modified, abused, or passed between teenage owners, and its condition clearly reflects that.
