1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL
The R107 series from Mercedes was introduced in 1971 and continued to be produced until 1989. This makes them the second longest model produced by Mercedes. These two seater convertible sports cars set their sights on the American market incorporating different motors, redesigned bumpers, different headlights and more improved emissions management. They proved to be successful with out of over 300,000 units sold 68% was sold in the US. The started with the 350SL in 1972 and built their way up to the most powerful model the 560SL in 1986. This 1988 560 SL is a nice clean example of these cars and runs well. It is painted in its original Smoke Silver Metallic that has a nice finish. The car wears all of its original chrome and stainless trim which has a great shine. The glass is all good as well and the removable hardtop allows you to cruise around as a convertible or coupe depending on your mood and of course the weather. The rides on a set of original Mercedes 15 inch wheels with Fortune Perfectus all season tires.
The largest motor offered throughout the run of the R107 series came with the 560SL's 5.6 L engine. These motors offered 287 lb ft of torque at 3500 rpm. This car has been very well maintained and receives all needed servicing and tune ups. The automatic transmission moves so the gears smoothly and the car runs down the road very well with no problems. Being a Mercedes these personal luxury cars were packed with all the latest and greatest features. It has power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, power windows, and cruise control.
The original Burgundy interior is in excellent condition throughout. The high back bucket seats sit to each side of the original center console and feature a central armrest. All of the original faux wood trim pieces are in good condition and cleanly mounted in place. Everything has a stock appearance except for the added Kenwood AM/FM/CD player. The trunk is nicely carpeted and houses the original Mercedes tool kit.
These clean classic Mercedes is a great driver. These cars are very comfortable to cruise around in and this one is ready for a new home.
