The 1998 Chevrolet Express is part of the first generation of this full-sized van, which is widely recognized for utility and durability. Available in 1500, 2500, and 3500 trims, the Express provides versatility for cargo, passenger, or conversion use. It was offered with four engines: a 200 horsepower V6, a 255 horsepower 5.0-liter V8, a 290 horsepower 5.7-liter V8, and a 245 horsepower 7.4-liter V8. All were mated to four-speed automatic transmissions. Of note, the Express did not come with some of the safety features common today, such as standard front-side airbags, though it did introduce standard antilock brakes for this model year. Despite this, its towing capacity, comfort, and power made it a mainstay for commercial needs.
