The sixth-generation 2016 BMW 5 Series remains an emblem of luxury and performance in the midsize sedan class. Buyers get to choose from a comprehensive range of engine options: 240-hp turbocharged four-cylinder (528i), 300-hp turbocharged six-cylinder (535i), or a muscular 445-hp turbocharged V8 (550i). An 8-speed automatic transmission comes standard, as does RWD, while AWD (xDrive) is available. The performance-oriented M5 delivers a blistering 560-hp from its V8. On the inside, occupants are treated to a posh and tech-savvy cabin. BMW's iDrive infotainment interface adorns the center console, along with a host of other premium features including a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated front seats, a sunroof, and a navigation system. Safety-wise, all 5 Series models come standard with stability and traction control, antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and front and rear parking sensors. Also included is the BMW Assist emergency communications system.
