The 2016 Ford Mustang is part of the iconic pony car's sixth generation, providing a classic yet contemporary design that pays homage to its heritage. Buyers can choose from four available trims — V6, EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium and GT. Engine options range from a 3.7-liter V6 producing 300 hp to a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine providing 310 hp, and a muscular 5.0-liter V8 in the GT version, which churns out 435 hp. All engines are paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with an optional six-speed automatic. The Mustang offers rear-wheel drive across all trims. Interior features include an optional 8" MyFord Touch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. For 2016, Ford introduced a new package named 'Black Accent', available on the GT variant, featuring black-painted alloy wheels, a black decklid spoiler, and dark taillight trim.
