The 2016 Toyota Mirai is one of the pioneers in the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle segment. Powered by a 114-kilowatt (153 horsepower) front-mounted fuel cell, the Mirai sends its power to the front wheels through a single-speed direct-drive transmission. The only byproduct from its powertrain is water, making it a zero-emissions vehicle. This midsize sedan offers four seats and is equipped with a variety of advanced safety and technology features, such as pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and a high-tech infotainment system with navigation and a JBL audio system. Despite its novelty, the car has a controlled and comfortable ride, although its range is limited by the scarcity of hydrogen refueling stations.
