The 2017 Nissan LEAF is a five-door compact hatchback and one of the world’s first mass-produced electric vehicles. The 2017 model comes with a single 80-kW electric motor, producing around 107 horsepower, and it's powered by a 30-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It covers an EPA-estimated 107 miles per charge, a commendable distance for its class. The LEAF uses a single-speed direct-drive transmission and is front-wheel drive. Its trim levels include the base S, mid-level SV, and top SL. Key safety features include Nissan’s advanced air bag system and the available Around View Monitor. The infotainment system uses a five-inch color display for S trims, while SV and SL trims come with a seven-inch display. The system includes a hands-free text messaging assistant and NissanConnect with Mobile Apps.
