The 2018 BMW 2 Series is a part of the model's first generation and features vigorous driving dynamics and quality interior materials. It's a small luxury sports car available as either a coupe or a convertible. Two trims are offered: the 230i and M240i. The 230i houses a 248 horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the performance-focused M240i is powered by a turbocharged six-cylinder engine that produces an impressive 335 horsepower. Both pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but a six-speed manual is a no-cost option for both. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive (“xDrive”) optional. Key safety features include standard forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, but advanced driver-assistance technologies are relatively limited. A highlight is the infotainment system which displays on a 6.5-inch screen and offers Bluetooth and USB connectivity, but Apple CarPlay requires a paid subscription. For the model year, changes include LED headlights becoming standard and slight tweaks to the exterior design.
