The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS is part of the third-generation lineup, introduced in 2020. This luxury SUV comes with two engine options - a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that delivers 362 horsepower for the GLS 450 trim, and a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that outputs 483 horsepower for the GLS 580 trim. Both engines work in tandem with a nine-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive comes standard. The GLS offers a spacious and opulent interior that's wrapped with the latest technology, such as dual 12.3-inch screens that serve as the infotainment and instrument cluster, equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mercedes-Benz's own MBUX interface capable of understanding natural language commands. Also standard is the Mercedes-Benz's Pre-Safe sound system that emits a noise to protect passengers' hearing in the event of a crash, along with blind-spot assist and exit warning systems to enhance safety. Notable changes for this model year includes the introduction of the ultra-luxury Maybach GLS 600.
