The 2022 Volvo XC40, part of the model's first generation introduced in 2019, is a compact luxury SUV praised for its tasteful design and upscale ambience. Available in three trims: Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription, XC40 offers two powertrains: the T4 with a 184-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with front-wheel drive and the T5, which is a all-wheel-drive version of the T4 that produces 248 horsepower. Both come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The XC40 also offers a pure electric model, the Recharge, with 402 horsepower. Key safety features include lane keeping aid, oncoming lane mitigation, road sign recognition, and Volvo's City Safety collision avoidance system. For infotainment, a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-car Wi-Fi hotspot is standard, along with a 12.3-inch digital driver display. For 2022, adaptive headlights and wireless smartphone charging become standard on all trims.
