Introduced as a completely new model for the 2022 model year, the Volkswagen Taos enters 2023 further cementing its place within Volkswagen's lineup as its smallest and most affordable SUV. Positioned below the Tiguan, the Taos is available in both FWD and AWD drivetrains. It comes with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, providing a respectable 158 horsepower, paired with either an eight-speed automatic transmission (for FWD) or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (for AWD). The compact 2023 Taos offers three trims: S, SE and SEL. Noteworthy features include an optional 8.0" touchscreen infotainment system (standard on SE and SEL), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, standard Wi-Fi hotspot, and options for SiriusXM radio and a Beats Audio sound system. On the safety front, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring are standard, while adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are available on higher trims.
