Mixing modern technology with a retro-inspired design isn’t new for the auto industry. Models like the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger give a nod to the muscle car era. Nissan already taps into JDM nostalgia with its recently announced Z Heritage Edition.
This newly announced Nismo variant adds a few extra touches. The refreshed grille leans even more retro, replacing the boxier grille with a sleeker two-piece grille that nods to the classic Z cars. This new nose does more than just look cool; it also improves aerodynamics.

The 2027 Nissan Z Nismo keeps the twin-turbo V6 mated to an optional six-speed manual transmission. Nissan reports the Nismo will have improved torque and acceleration. Additional highlights include 19-inch wheels, a premium leather interior, and a striking Unryu Green exterior.
Details and pricing are still light, but Nissan expects to start selling the updated Z in the US by the end of 2026, which means we should get more details soon.
