The cancellation of the popular but unsung Chevrolet Bolt EV created a hole in the legacy brand’s lineup that was quickly filled by the larger Equinox EV. Despite sharing a name, the EV version of the Equinox shares most of its components with the Honda Prologue as both electric crossovers run on GM’s Ultium EV platform. A mid-year addition saw the Equinox EV go from two to three trims, now comprising the LT 1, LT 2, and RS. The Equinox EV features all your BEV basics, offers 300-plus miles of range, and sneaks in an MSRP just under $34,000.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Powertrain 8/10

The Equinox EV is not the quickest or sportiest of electric crossovers. It is, however, the only one currently on the market that offers both an excess of 300 miles of range and an MSRP under $34,000. The Equinox EV offers two powertrain options. The base single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) setup makes 220 horsepower and 243 lb.-ft. of torque powered by an 85-kWh battery. In this form, Chevy says the Equinox EV will get you 319 miles of range on a single charge. Adding all-wheel drive (AWD) sees power jump to 300 horsepower and 355 lb.-ft. of torque while range dips to 285 miles. DC fast charging will be available, with the Equinox EV capable of adding 77 miles of range in 10 minutes at a level 3 charger. Overall, the Equinox offers a smooth and quiet ride, letting other electric crossovers like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 aspire to “sportiness.”

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Interior 8.25/10

Despite the additional battery pack, the Equinox EV loses little in the way of interior space compared to its gas-powered namesake. Rear-seat legroom measures 38 inches while cargo splits 26.4 cu.-ft. behind the rear seats and 57.2 cu.-ft. with them folded down. Material quality impresses given the price point, though you’ll be tempted to climb the trim ladder to access creature comforts like power seats and dual-zone climate control. We felt outward visibility could improve as chunky A-pillars tended to produce notable blind spots. Despite the massive 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, which we’ll return to in a moment, Chevy wisely retained physical controls for HVAC and other functions.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Technology Features 7.5/10

Dash dominating touchscreens are nothing new, but the Equinox EV still manages to make a statement with its 11-inch digital gauge cluster and massive 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, both coming as standard equipment. Big screens tend to be a safe bet with car shoppers. A riskier bet was Chevy’s decision to go with a Google-based UI (user interface) for the infotainment system and skip Apple Carplay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring altogether. Tesla has gotten away with the same move for years, but the Equinox EV’s system is a good deal clunkier.

The Equinox makes up ground with a deep bench of standard advanced driver assistance features that include lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and Teen Driver settings, among many others. GM’s hands-free driving tech, Super Cruise, is available on the LT2 and RS trims. The Equinox EV received a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. Full scoring from the IIHS is still forthcoming.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV RS - chevrolet.com

RS – $43,400

The Equinox EV RS grants access to black badging, black roof rails, and black 21-inch aluminum wheels. Upholstery can be had with red accent stitching, and buyers can opt for Comfort and Advanced Safety packages.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Value 9/10

The Equinox EV makes for itself a compelling value proposition. When range anxiety is the number one cited misgiving car shopper has about EVs and the second is price, the Equinox’s pitch of a sub-$34,000 and a range of over 300 miles seems enticing indeed. Tesla chased the elusive $35,000 price tag for the Model 3 for years, only briefly hitting that mark in the early part of 2019 before raising prices. No, the Equinox EV doesn’t match the Model 3 or Model Y in driving dynamics or interior space, respectively, but it’s inarguably a competent EV.

Among the three trims offered we’d recommend the Equinox LT 1. Even as the base model, the LT 1 comes well equipped for the price. Chevy offers a basic 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year/100,000-mile battery and electrical componentry warranty for the Equinox EV.

2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Overall Score 8/10

A bargain of a starting price does wonders to the Equinox EV’s competitiveness among electric crossovers. Decent cargo space and a comfy interior plus commendable range numbers make the Equinox EV an imminently attractive daily commuter. Could it be quicker, corner better, or for gosh sakes give us smartphone integration? Sure, but sometimes pretty good is good enough, as many Equinox EV buyers have found.
