What is New for the 2025 Dodge Durango

Now in its 15th year of third-gen production, the 2025 Dodge Durango is brash as ever with a pair of thumping V8 powertrains on offer. The biggest update versus the 2024 Durango is that the 10.1-inch infotainment interface is now standard and the trim lineup has been reduced to just three.

Building off the first run of last call Durangos, the 2025 model has what could be the final run of last call firebreathers with goofy names like Brass Monkey and Hammerhead. Perhaps more importantly, the Durango is now the only Dodge model for sale with the righteous wail of the mighty SRT Hellcat powerplant.

2025 Dodge Durango Powertrain 9.25/10

With 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, the supercharged 6.2L Hellcat V8 engine is easily the most exciting option for the Dodge Durango in SRT trim. It’ll whip the big SUV to 60 in just 3.5 seconds, top out at 180 mph, and inhale 91 octane at a rate of 13 mpg combined. Less wild, but still impressive, is the R/T’s naturally aspirated 5.7L V8 making 360 hp and 390 torques. It makes for a good comparison with the Ford Explorer in ST spec and achieves marginally better fuel economy, than the Hellcat, at 17 mpg combined.

The base setup is Dodge’s long-running 3.6L V6 with 295 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The combined fuel efficiency rating comes in at 21 mpg and, like the other two engines, it pairs with an 8-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is standard on all Durangos except the base GT, which is rear-wheel drive. The Durango is a towing champ with a minimum rating of 6,200 pounds and a maximum of 8,7000 pounds when properly equipped.

2025 Dodge Durango Interior 7.75/10

The Dodge Durango comes with three rows of seating and room for 7 in base setup or 6 when the available second-row captain chairs are fitted. Materials range from cloth on entry-level models to Nappa leather with suede inserts on the Hellcats.

Triple-zone automatic climate control and heated front seats are lineup standard as is a heated steering wheel. Second-row legroom is so-so at 33 inches, but maximum cargo space is substantial at 85 cubic feet. There is 17 cubic feet of space behind the upright third row and all back rows split/fold for flexible loading.

2025 Dodge Durango Technology Features 8/10

2025 Dodge Durango - dodge.com

New this year, every Durango comes with a 10.1-inch central touchscreen. Wireless integration for Apple CarPlay and Android also comes standard, but popular modern tech like a surround-view monitor is unavailable on the 2025 Durango. Fortunately, an optional 19-speaker sound system from Harman Kardon can be had to please audiophiles.

As for safety tech, the Durango comes with forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control are optional, but that’s about it, which is fairly sparse compared to the likes of a Kia Telluride. The NHTSA rated the 2025 Durango 4 stars overall in crash-test safety.

R/T – $49,995

R/T models get the 5.7L V8, AWD, a sport-tuned suspension, 20-inch wheels, and wireless phone charging. There are also two R/T 20th Anniversary packages celebrating 20 years of HEMI production in the Durango.

2025 Dodge Durango Hellcat - dodge.com

SRT Hellcat – $84,995

Along with the wicked powertrain, SRT Hellcat Durangos have ventilated front seats, heated rears, and memory settings. A trio of special variants – Hammerhead, Silver Bullet, and Brass Monkey – add an extra dose of neato bits like special paint jobs, sweet badging, and all the best optional content from the 2025 Durango lineup for a cool $101,000.

2025 Dodge Durango Overall Value 7.75/10

For sure, if you’re buying a Durango, buy the R/T to enjoy the rarity of a free-breathing, throaty V8. If you can swing it, go the Hellcat route, because awesome. It’s hard to compare the Durango to anything else currently for sale in its segment. Mainly because it’s so unusual from a powertrain perspective and because its relatively ancient platform is so out of touch with modern SUVs.

Depending on what you’re looking for in a vehicle, that’s a good or a bad thing. But there’s no doubt the Dodge Durango delivers a solid combination of power, towing, and cabin space. Just don’t look too closely at the receipt when you fill up the tank. As for warranty coverage, Dodge offers a 3-year basic term, 5-year powertrain term, and zero complimentary maintenance.

The 2025 Dodge Durango is an excellent vehicle for someone who likes attention, especially in Hellcat guise. Where else can you get a Night Moves purple paint job, 710 horsepower, and badges with screaming cat faces? Answer: nowhere. It’s certainly not for everyone, with weak fuel economy and subpar tech content against the competition.

But it can tow with the big boys, and did we mention it still comes with a V8? Dodge keeps pretending the HEMI is going bye-bye, but the Durango begs to differ. That said, it would seem that this legendary engine cannot live forever, so if it’s your thing, don’t wait too long.
