Though it sits atop the Mitsubishi lineup, the Outlander is a compact SUV that shares a platform with the Nissan Rogue and competes with similar vehicles like the Honda CR-V. Mitsubishi’s lineup is all crossovers as of 2025 and they range from small to very small, so it may not be the first place shoppers stop. However, the revised Outlander makes a case for changing that thinking. It’s on the same level of affordability as a Kia Sportage, while matching that automaker’s famed powertrain warranty and tacking on 2 years of included service.
The Outlander’s styling is refreshingly different and with this recent overhaul is very well equipped across the board. Factor in the Yamaha audio systems, upmarket features like semi-aniline leather and a big glass roof, and you have a very nice little crossover. The PHEV is expensive and the Trail Edition is a bit silly, but there are plenty of other Outlanders to choose from, each of which has its own merits.
