TikTok is full of different short-form videos, but are there any good ones on cars? We swiped through the FYP to find out!

TikTok is a love it or hate it social media platform that’s focus is on short-form video content. Some of these videos are informative, most are comedic, and a majority are people dancing to the trending song of the moment. But what about car content on TikTok? There’s a unique car culture over on the app, but your For You Page (FYP) may not present you with this automotive content until you interact with a related video. So, where can you look to get your TikTok algorithm focused on car content? We’ve scrolled through the app for a long while now and have compiled a great list of automotive TikTok creators you might want to give a follow to create your car centric FYP.
There are tons of great multipart project car series uploaded to TikTok daily. You’ve got classic car restorations, performance tuners, and some outlandish creations that look like giant Hot Wheels designs. We can’t list all of the project cars we’ve come across on our FYP, but here are some of our favorites to get your algorithm kickstarted.

I stumbled upon this series back in 2021, but @red.hound is still at it customizing his Miata into an entirely different ride. What started out as a damaged 1997 Mazda MX-5 Miata has been transformed into a multitude of different ways. It started out like your typical Miata rebuild before it entered its custom body phase. The car started with a BMW M3 bumper cut down to fit the front end and the pop-up headlights were customized like an RX-7’s. The owner messed with a couple other ideas that included body parts from an Alfa Romeo and a Corvette before decided to go full on with the “FD Miata”. RX-7 taillights along with front and rear bumpers were chopped and fit the Miata. He also installed a wide body kit and rear spoiler to complete the look.

Ever heard of the Sterling Nova? It was a sweet kit car from back in the day that featured a full mechanical canopy entrance rather than your standard door to get in the vehicle. @ole_cade happened to come across one in a disheveled state and has since rebuilt the automotive oddity back to its former glory. The Nova was originally based off the Volkswagen Beetle’s chassis and engine, but this creator has brought the kit car somewhat more into the modern age. At the rear he’s swapped in a Subaru EJ boxer engine that’s been given some aftermarket love.

The project car @therealefaw has put together is like nothing you’ve ever seen. A lifted GT40 kit car being powered by a Honda underneath. The build started with the GT40 shell and then a Honda Pilot was chopped up to act as the donor chassis. This creator also has a couple other great project cars like a Camaro, C10 Square Body, and a K5 Blazer.

TikTok with fun commentary and comedic skits all about cars and their owners. Here are a couple of our favorite creators that gave us a good laugh when talking about cars.

Rutledge Wood is no newcomer to the car scene. He was a part of the Top Gear US cast, he’s covered NASCAR since FS1 was still called Speed TV, and he’s also the host of Hot Wheels Ultimate Challenge. His TikTok gives fans a look into the longtime personality’s life along with some funny commentary. Plus, he gives followers a peek into his garage that’s full of great rides like a Toyota Supra, R33 Nissan Skyline GTR, ‘62 Grumman Kurbmaster, Suzuki Carry kei van, and so many more.

The Gambler 500 itself is an event that has janky off-roaders traverse over some of America’s greatest trails. This unconventional group’s main mission during the Gambler 500 isn’t just to make it to the end of the trail but to clean up debris and trash they find along the way. When the event isn’t going on, the show runner likes to post some of the wildest rides from the event and offer some comedic takes and memes focused on car culture.

Jerry Wayne Longmire is a standup comic that’s grown in popularity on TikTok through his funny automotive commentary. There’s Marketplace Astrology that takes some of the worst offenders of trying to sell their vehicles for terrible prices. He also does Truck Astrology that talks about what kind of person would own the truck he found on the internet. There’s just too much car content to enjoy over on the TikTok app, but here are some of our other favorite creators for car enthusiasts. I’ve seen some cars left in terrible shape before. Food everywhere, trash littering the floors, unknown stains and discolored carpet. Luckily there are people like Gabe Tyler that can take a car interior from disasters to looking virtually back to new. His TikToks features him painstakingly detailing some of the worst offenders in car care. It’s fun to watch him take something so disheveled and transform it back into a pleasant space.

“What do you do for a living?” Daniel Mac has risen to TikTok fame by approaching people in nice cars and asking what profession they’re in to afford their ride. What started as interviewing random passersby has evolved into the creator interviewing major stars like Mark Walhberg, Lewis Hamilton, Will.i.am, and even the CEO of TikTok.

Nikolai takes pictures of people’s cars at car meets and asks other owners what they’d rate that car on a scale from one to ten. Then he takes a picture of that car, and the process continues. What you end up with is some humble and vain car owners that create a decisive response in the comments section.
