Manufacturers have multiple options available for getting you to buy right now. Here’s some January 2021 car deals!

The Best Car Deals for January 2021

Other than 2010, January has never been a strong month for purchase incentives on automobiles. However, with the recent votes for government economic impact payment relief, manufacturers and dealers think you may have cash in hand for a down payment. So maybe it’s time to mask up and head to the dealership for that new car you’ve been wanting.

What to Look For

Manufacturers will have multiple options on how to get you to buy and may use all of them, so we’ll address a few of them here:

Dealer Cash

This isn’t something you’ll necessarily hear about since its cash provided by the manufacturer to the dealer if they sell certain models. Often, these models are being replaced by a redesigned car the following year. The 2020 Hyundai Tucson is an example of this since 2021 will bring an all-new Tucson to the US. So, Hyundai dealers want to move these cars out to make way for new ones.

Cashback/Rebates

Cashback and rebate incentives basically serve to lower the price you pay for the car and can be substantial. Again, they are often placed on cars to move inventory for various reasons, but a model year change is often a good reason. It’s not unusual to have some of those models be leftovers from the previous year. For example, Mitsubishi plans to introduce a new Outlander for 2021 and clear out some leftover 2019 Outlander SEL S-AWC models. The Outlander MSRP is at $36,890, and the current incentive is $9,368, which drops the price by a whopping 25%. Get that initial price lower, and you have a huge deal on a decent all-wheel-drive SUV. Mitsubishi isn’t the only one selling 2019’s since most of the manufacturers have them around. Most available 2019’s with cashback/rebate incentives will come from Volkswagen, Ford, and RAM currently.

Financing

Financial document and calculator
Financial document and calculator

Over the month of December, you saw quite a few 0% financing offers from various manufacturers. Some were on specific models, but many were on every model. For example, Toyota offered 0% and 1.9% APR on its Highlander if you were willing to go 60 months on payments and had Tier 1 credit.

These are just a few of your options and, before you ask, you can’t combine them for the ultimate deal. Toyota offers two cashback, two APR, and a lease offer on the Highlander, and neither can be combined. Now that you know, let’s look at some specific deals that may be available at a dealership near you.
