2020 Honda CR-V Hybrid – hondanews.com | Shop 2020 Honda CR-V on Carsforsale.com
The 2020 Honda CR-V received a whole new redesign for this year. The inside is more spacious for front and rear passengers, and available cargo space is a definite upside for this compact SUV. You’ll find that the new redesign has added a lot more standard safety features to the Honda and some new appealing available features as well.
One of the best standard features that was added is the standard 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (for non-hybrids) dropping the standard naturally-aspired four-cylinder from 2019. There are also Hybrid trims to choose from that will help you receive a little more power and some better gas mileage.
Base 1.5-liter turbocharged engine
Plenty of cargo space
Handling is driver-friendly and a joy to drive
Key fob window and sunroof control
Rear seats offer plenty of room
Clean and simple digital gauge cluster
Somewhat outdated infotainment system
No ventilated seat option
For the redesign 2020 Honda CR-V, Honda dropped the naturally-aspired four-cylinder engine and replaced all non-hybrid trim models with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This powerplant puts out 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. Bolted up to what can only be said as one of the smoothest, less funky shifting CVT transmissions in its class. You can get from 0-60 in 8.41 seconds.
Although the real-time all-wheel-drive system works great in most situations you encounter, the CR-V really isn’t much of an off-road vehicle. The 2020 Honda CR-V has a ground clearance of 7.8 inches, and with regular stock tires, you could find yourself in some really tough-to-get-out-of predicaments on some serious messy back trails.
You’ll find that on the hybrid version of the Honda CR-V, everything is basically the same from trim-to-trim except for the drivetrain and performance. Instead of a 1.5-liter engine, the hybrid uses a 2.0-liter engine that works with two electric motors seamlessly to give you total efficiency.
There’s an EV button within reach of the driver that you can push to go all-electric, and it’s just as easy to push that button to switch back to hybrid mode. The hybrid setup gives you a little more power getting ratted at 212 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. That extra horsepower and torque gets you from 0-60 mph a little quicker than the 1.5-liter, stopping the clocks at 7.6 seconds.
The two electric motors run off of a lithium battery that uses Regenerative Braking to recharge. A level on the steering wheel lets you decide how much of this function you want to use or need, and a digital gauge inside the gauge cluster shows you how much battery power you have.
The towing capacity for the 2020 Honda CR-V is a little unimpressive for an SUV, but then again, it’s not that bad for its size. With all the extra cargo room and a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, you have plenty of options to lock-and-load for whatever adventure you’re heading out on.
For being an SUV, both the 2020 Honda CR-V and CR-V hybrid get very good fuel economy. The 2.5-liter turbocharged setup gets a very respectable EPA estimated mpg 28 city / 34 Hwy / 33 combined.
The 2.0-liter engine combined with the hybrid motors gets an estimated EPA mpg 35 city / 40 Hwy / 38 combined. If you’re looking to save on gas money throughout the year, this is the way to go.
For as small as this CR-V looks on the outside, it will amaze you on the inside. Everyone can fit comfortably in the front and the rear seats of this Honda. Front seat passengers will enjoy 41.3 inches of legroom while rear-seat passengers get to enjoy 40.4 inches of legroom. That’s plenty for a six-foot adult to comfortably sit in the rear seats.
Cargo space is quite amazing too as you can get an impressive 39.2 cu-ft of cargo volume and 75.8 cu-ft of cargo volume with the rear seats folded down. You’ll also find other places very cargo friendly like the multi-functional center console.
For cold days, you’ll enjoy the available heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and the available front heated seats. For warmer days, if you opted for the moon roof, you’ll enjoy that as well.
Although Honda has some new technology for the infotainment center, they chose to use the pre-existing user interface for this particular model. It’s a little slow and the icons look cartoonish. Most all trim models come with a decent 7.0-inch touchscreen or can at least be upgraded to one from the base 5.0-inch screen. Besides being a little outdated, the infotainment center pretty much offers everything you need.
You will also find USB connection access in the front row and in the rear row, a DC connection in the front center console, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and a very easy to read and understand digital gauge cluster.
You should feel very safe in the 2020 Honda CR-V. NHTSA has given the SUV five out of five stars in all crash tests. All Honda CR-Vs come standard with Honda Sensing which will offer you Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System, and Lane-Keeping Assistance. Blind-Spot Monitoring is standard or available depending on the trim you choose.
The 2020 Honda CR-V comes with a 190 horsepower four-cylinder engine unless you get the Hybrid. With that, you receive the 212 horsepower 2.0-liter engine aided by two electric motors. Both engines are backed by a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic. Honda Sensing Suite, easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seats for plenty of cargo room, and 17-inch Alloy wheels will be included. Also offers available real-time all-wheel-drive with intelligent control system.
The EX trim receives very helpful standard safety features like Blind Spot Information system with Cross Traffic Monitor. You’ll also enjoy a very comfortable dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Integration.
The EX-L gives you a little more luxury. Sit back and relax in the leather-trimmed interior, enjoy a power liftgate that can be operated by a button or a key fob, heated steering wheel, and an automatic-dimming rearview mirror.
On the Touring, you will be riding a little bit more in style with a set of 19-inch alloy wheels. You also get hands-free tailgate access, a wireless phone charger, and a few extra goodies plus a wealth of available ones as well.
When it comes to warranties, you receive a 60 month / 60,000-mile powertrain warranty, your roadside warranty will be 36 months / 36,000 miles, and the corrosion warranty is 60 months / 60,000 miles. Check with your dealer for special deals and other changes.
