Taylor Swift’s music videos aren’t just known for their storytelling; they also feature some unforgettable cars that help set the scene. From classic muscle cars to sleek luxury rides, these vehicles often play a role in the narrative, adding character and style to each video.

In 2006, at just 16 years old, Taylor Swift released her debut single and music video, Tim McGraw. The music video follows the storyline of the song lyrics, with Swift reminiscing on her relationship while the love interest drives through town in a white and orange Chevrolet CST-10. This particular truck is a 1969 or 1970 model and belongs to Chevrolet’s long running C/K series, produced from 1960 to 2002 before being replaced by the Silverado. He turns the truck radio on and hears Swift’s song, which makes him turn the truck around and head back to a cabin. There, he finds a letter addressed to him while flashbacks of the relationship play – including a scene of both lying in the truck bed. The Chevrolet CST-10, a classic pickup truck, adds a nostalgic Americana vibe that matches the song’s country roots.

Swift’s 2008 video for Picture to Burn, starts with a scene of Swift and real-life high school best friend Abigail parked in a 2005 Ford Mustang behind a tree. Then, the ex-boyfriend pulls up with his new girlfriend in a 1997 Ford F-Series, fitted with off-road accessories, and Swift comments “He let her drive the truck? He never let me drive the truck!”

The Ford Mustang’s sporty design contrasts with the rugged Ford F-Series truck, further showing the difference between the characters in the story line. Trucks like the F-Series are often customized for off-road performance, like the one shown in the video.

In this music video, Swift plays two characters – herself and a brunette, mean girl. The brunette version of Swift is currently dating the love interest and is seen pulling up in a red 2010 Ford Mustang convertible. The bright red Mustang symbolizes confidence and status, making it the perfect choice for the “mean girl” character.

Fifteen is a fun and whimsical music video, channeling the feelings of being a young teenager in high school and experiencing a crush for the first time. Abigail, who formerly played a role in the Picture to Burn music video, appears in this video with her love interest parked in a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner convertible.

I Knew You Were Trouble features a mixture of flashbacks and Swift reminiscing on a past relationship. The couple can be seen cruising care-free in a 1968 Plymouth GTX, as the love interest drives dangerously.

2014 Swift took the comments from the media of her being a serial dater and crafted a world where she played that part, complete with being a crazy ex-girlfriend and smashing up a luxury car. That car is the 2008 Backdraft Racing RT3, but don’t worry, all damage was done using CGI. The Backdraft Racing RT3 is a modern replica of the Shelby Cobra, a car synonymous with speed and luxury, matching the vibe of the video. The video ends with Swift’s next boyfriend pulling up in a bright red 1957 or 1958 Jaguar XK 150 convertible, continuing the story.

The Bad Blood music video is packed with action and celebrity appearances. In one scene, Selena Gomez is seen hitting Swift through a large window, breaking the glass, and Swift falling out of the building. Swift lands atop a light blue 1971 Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 with the shattered windshield and dented top. This scene also includes her producer credit, along with the title scene for the music video. The Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 contrasts sharply with the destruction of the scene.

In Wildest Dreams, Swift plays the role of a dark-haired, famous actress in a new movie. At the movie premiere, Swift arrives on the red carpet in a Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn – a rare model with only 760 ever produced between 1949 and 1955 – fitting right into the major glitz and glamour of the event. The vehicle epitomizes old Hollywood glamour, making it a perfect fit for the video’s vintage aesthetic. She later uses the same Rolls-Royce as her getaway car when exiting the movie premiere.

Swift made her come back to the public after her social media blackout by teasing the reputation era and dropping the lead single and music video to Look What You Made Me Do. In this video, Swift plays many characters, and one of them crashes a gold 2006 Bugatti Veyron EB into a lamppost. Swift poses with a Grammy award for the paparazzi while still sitting inside the Bugatti, which is now on fire and reveals a jaguar in the passenger seat.

The Delicate music video follows Swift as she breaks the mold of what is expected of her and really lets loose in fun, goofy dance scenes. The final dance scene takes place in a rainy alley and ends with Swift striking a pose on top of a 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special. The luxury sedan from the ’60s adds a retro touch to the otherwise modern scene. She then slides down the front of the car, landing in a split on the hood, forming the iconic still that is used as the thumbnail for the video.

When Taylor released Red “Taylor’s Version” in 2021, she also released a ten-minute version of All Too Well from the vault. Along with the song, she premiered a short film, walking through the toxic relationship storyline. In the chapter titled “An Upstate Escape,” the actors are seen winding through roads in a 1989 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The vehicle is seen a few more times throughout the film, including a tense clip of an argument and a flashback scene.

In 2023, Swift premiered her new music video for I Can See You at the Eras Tour in Kansas City. A crew of celebrity guest stars embark on a rescue mission to save Swift from where she is locked inside a vault. Their spy getaway vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and makes appearances at the beginning and end of the video.
