What’s New for the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Part of the fifth-gen series that launched in 2023, the 2025 Chevy Colorado competes in a newly invigorated arena of mid-size pickup trucks that includes compelling options like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. Headlined by the hardcore off-roading ZR2 variant, the Chevy Colorado impresses regardless of trim line, especially since all models now feature the automaker’s potent TurboMax powertrain.

Other changes over the 2024 Colorado include new paint colors like Sunrise Orange, a WT Custom package with the darkened treatment, and a similar Midnight Edition package that features a bed-mounted sports bar with a 40” integrated LED light bar.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Powertrain 9/10

2025 Chevrolet Colorado - Chevrolet.com

Across the 2025 Colorado lineup, a 2.7L turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque provides motivation. It pairs with an 8-speed automatic that routes power to the rear wheels. Four-wheel drive is included on the Trail Boss models and above, or can be added to the WT and LT variants for an extra $3,300.

With rear-wheel drive, fuel economy comes in at 19 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. Adding 4WD drops those numbers by 1-2 mpg across the board. On all 2025 Colorados, except the ZR2 with its 6,000-pound rating, max towing capacity measures 7,700 pounds. A 5-foot cargo bed is the only option and payload capacity tops out at 1,684 pounds.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Interior 8.75/10

Only sold as a crew cab with 5 seats, the 2025 Chevy Colorado has 35 inches of rear legroom, and all models come with backseat HVAC ducting. Even on base Work Truck models, cloth upholstery, carpeted flooring, and automatic climate control are included.

However, unlike the Colorado’s full-size Silverado stablemate that offers a luxurious High Country variant, Chevy’s mid-sizer hews more utilitarian. So you can find upmarket content like ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel, but high-dollar features like seat massagers are not available here.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Technology Features 8.5/10

2025 Chevrolet Colorado - Chevrolet.com

Every new Colorado comes with a fully digital gauge cluster, 11.3” central touchscreen, Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone integration. A Bose audio system is available, but even base Colorados have a 6-speaker stereo.

Safety-wise, the 2025 Colorado comes with 6 airbags, forward collision mitigation, a lane-keeping system, blind-spot mitigation, reverse parking sensors, and automatic high beams. The IIHS has yet to test the new Colorado, while the NHTSA rates it 4 stars overall in crash testing.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Trims & Pricing

2025 Chevrolet Colorado WT - Chevrolet.com

WT – $33,595

This entry-level Colorado comes with steel wheels, halogen headlights, heated side mirrors, and an integrated rear bumper step. Cabin content includes black cloth seating, a sliding back window, dual front USB ports, and OnStar connectivity. The Convenience package brings adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, and more.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado LT - chevrolet.com

LT – $37,495

LT models are dressed up with alloy wheels, body color exterior bits, bed lighting, and the StowFlex tailgate with built-in storage. These Colorados also gain heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Trailboss - chevrolet.com

Trail Boss – $41,595

In Trail Boss spec, the 2025 Colorado has a wider stance sitting on a 2” factory lift with 32” all-terrain tires and fender flares. An auto-locking rear differential and front recovery hooks complete the factory off-roader package, which also features an off-road-tuned suspension.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 - chevrolet.com

Z71 – $45,595

Z71 Colorados drop the Trail Boss lifted and widened look, while adding LED headlights and fog lamps, a cabin trimmed in black Evotex upholstery with red accents, and a wireless phone charging pad. The optional Convenience III package offers leather upholstery and climate-controlled front seats.

Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 - chevrolet.com

ZR2 – $51,295

With the hardcore off-roading ZR2 variant, the Colorado boasts a 3” lift, 35” tires, Multimatic spool-valve dampers, special bumpers, rock rails, and a yellow-stitched leather cabin. The nearly $12,000 Bison package adds hot-stamped Boron steel skid plates and bumpers from AEV along with beadlock-capable wheels and plenty of badging.

2025 Chevrolet Colorado Overall Value 8.75/10

Exciting as the 2025 Chevy Colorado ZR2 is, it’s just too expensive for daily use. Instead, go for the LT model as it comes with plenty of desirable features and the Colorado’s impressive level of standard technology. It slots between the Ford Ranger in XLT and Lariat trim but stacks up well against the pricier Lariat and has a much more powerful engine. Chevy’s warranty coverage is of the industry average variety with a 3-year basic term, 5 years on the powertrain, and the first service visit included.

Carsforsale.com Overall Score 8.75/10

2025 Chevrolet Colorado – chevrolet.com |  Shop 2025 Chevrolet Colorado on Carsforsale.com

Now that the 2025 Colorado comes only with the TurboMax motor, it’s a more interesting truck than ever, as it makes 40 more horsepower and 120 more lb-ft of torque than the base Ford Ranger powertrain. However, the Ford is only 200 pounds behind the Chevy in the towing department. The Colorado ZR2 is expensive, but less so than Ford’s equivalent Ranger Raptor (unless you tack on the mighty Bison package).

These trucks are exciting and make for good headlines, but unless you’re a regular on the prerunner circuit, they’re overkill. Fortunately, the 2025 Chevy Colorado is good as a basic utility vehicle in WT guise for about $34,000 and excellent in the more heavily equipped LT version for about $38,000. In the hotly contested mid-size pickup segment, the Colorado stands tall.
